So my consultant today was appalling! I was supposed to be going to get information about my group b strep, give me my results for the other tests that weren't back when I saw my midwife, and so he could prescribe me some tablets to finally get rid of this horrible thrush (because GPs aren't allowed.) Let me set the scene... Pouring down with rain, I am full of cold with terrible headache and wet and miserable, my appointment was supposed to be 11am, there is a mum and dad with a 1 year old (ish) boy who is screaming his head off. They are just ignoring the boy. I didn't get seen until 12:20pm (the kid was really helping my headache the whole time)

The consultant was crap. He wouldn't give me anything for my thrush, didn't examine me, he didn't give me my results as he was supposed to, he didn't give me any information just told me I was GBS positive which I knew. Literally all he did was my blood pressure, felt my belly, felt my ankles, did the doppler and said "bye enjoy the rest of your pregnancy." He was awful! Such a waste of time, 100 minutes of waiting for a 5 minute appointment. I left the hospital in tears, I was supposed to be leaving well informed with tablets for my thrush problem, and knowing all of my results.

I left crying, still in pain, and none the wiser, he didn't even look down there, just said thrush was a normal part of pregnancy, not this bad it isn't! I called my midwife and grassed him up, she was fuming and said she'd get on the phone and sort him out. I see her on wednesday so she'll give me my results then seems he never bothered despite the fact I asked him!

What's the point in seeing a specialist if they're not going to do anything special! My midwife does more on my routine check ups!

I think he just thought "I'm an hour and a half behind, I'm gonna rush this one." Everyone else going in before me was in there way longer...

Bottom line: Such a usless dick who totally wasted my time and refused to help!

ahh sorry to hear your specialist was not so special and pretty damn useless, he basically did everything a midwife would do anyway didnt he!!! Hope you get the thrush sorted soon xx

Sorry it didn't go so good :(
You should have asked for all of your concerns.
I never leave the gynecologist with answered questions. But then I am a doctor too and I suppose the gynecologist knows better than fob me out in 5 min...
I appreciate when my patients ask questions really. I feel they care and that makes me allow them more time, give them more info and last but not least I am more patient.
Never leave again the doctor office like that. They are there and paid to help you and talk to you as long as it takes really.

Ring up and make another appointment saying that you weren;t happy after last time :)

Write down some questions to take with you and make sure you ask them as well.

I had a shitty consultant appointment where it was a locum and he didn;t really care as was running late he did the same things and shipped me on my way and I left feeling a bit neglected.

Your problems sound far worse than what mine were so I would rebook especially if he is the only one that can help your thrush problem :)

Hope you get it sorted xxxx

Sorry to hear that you weren't treated too well - sounds appalling!
Are you going to make another appointment or see someone else?
Hopefully ull get ur answers soon and ur thrush clears up soon too - its horrible isnt it!
Sounds like ur midwife is nice tho?

Oh crikey that sounds awful. I'm glad your midwife is sorting everything out though. I've found that when I go for my consultant appts the same thing happens, it's always the midwife who is more helpful.

This might seem a bit sexist but what the hell do men know about pregnancy and woman bits anyway?

That is well out of order at least you have a supportive MW. Good luck hun I hope they sort it out and you get what you need xx

I don't want to sound racist, but he wasn't English and I don't think he had a clue what I was talking about. I asked him everything I wanted to ask, and he just smiled and nodded, and said things like "that pregnancy"

UPDATE: I saw the same midwife that was in there with him the following day when I went back with reduced movements, she apologized for him without me even saying anything, tried to get medication sorted for me, answered all of my questions and even got my test results! She was actually lovely, I just don't think she could over rule him as he will be her boss I suppose!
