Cally woke up this morning screaming with a 38.6 temp, shallow rapid breathing then grunty breathing and her eyes were flickering. Manged to get her in to the docs and she has bronchiolitis. She is soo not herself, she can't raise a smile and is just sleeping or crying. Dr says it will probably be worse tomorrow and to keep an eye on her breathing as if it gets bad she has to go to hospital :(

Poor Cally, what a way to spend your 1st christmas - I hope santa brings her some get well vibes tonight

aww poor love. There is so much going round at the moment. I know so many poorly babies!

Dan was in hospital with bronchiolitis when he was 2 weeks old, so I know what a horrible, horrible illness it is.

Oh no Beanie, I'm so sorry.
Bronchiolitis is so horrible. Tom's had it three times now.
If there's anything I can do, PM me.
I think it's more worrying for us to be honest. It's so horrible to hear them struggling to breathe.
I so hope she is better soon and that you get to enjoy Christmas.
I'll be thinking of you.

Cheers Lucy, I didn't realise Tom had it three times, poor baby :(

Cally is still poorly. Her temp keeps rocketing and this morning when she coughed and threw up a lot of gunk there were streaks of blood in it which was scary but it seems its her straining to clear her chest that caused that. Just been to the out of hours Dr, who gave her a thorough check and given us antibiotics which confuses me as the other Dr said it was viral

She has slept through christmas mainly, and hasn't been her usual smiley self. This was her on christmas morning,my poor baby smudge :(

she hasn't eaten a thing and refuses any additional fluids but thankfully is breastfeeding frequently albeit small amounts so I know she is getting some fluids.

Poor little angel :(

Stanley had it last Christmas so I know how tough and worrying it is

I think it IS viral but can develop quickly so maybe that's what the anti-b's are for? We were given steroids to help keep his airways open. I also thought most things that were 'itis' could be treated with anti-b's?

Get well soon Cally xxxx

Poor wee soul. I hope she feels better soon, it really is going around - my wee one is utterly miserable today too :(

aaaaawwww poor lil baby, get well soon Cally. It really takes it out of them

Def a bit confusing on the anti-bi's as I too was told they can't fight Bronchiolitis. Not sure why they gave you thoses hun

Poor thing she looks miserable.

It is caused by a virus (RSV) but secondary infections can be present. Which might be why your doc has given antibiotics.

Fluids and rest are the best course of action.

Lil miss has just started with it again, we've been using menthol oil in the baths with steam (the steam really helps), and she has an inhaler which really does wonders on the inflammation.

  for Cally and I hope she gets better soon.

I have been naughty and not given her the ab's  I don't think she has an infection, the stuff she is bringing up off her chest looks healthy enough and everyhting I have read says bronchiolitis is viral and ab's are inneffective, and I hate giving ab's unless absolutely necessary. I did say if we had another bad night I would start them but she is like a different baby today. No high temp, lots of smiles and making up for lost time with her new toys. Still a bit of a chesty cough but she is coping with it easily and not gasping or grunting. Am so pleased she is better :cheer: :cheer:

Have to say Beanie that I didn't give Tom the ab's last time he had Bronchiolitis. I agree with you in that it's a viral infection so I didn't see what good ab's would do. Tom got over it quickly enough like Cally.
So glad she's better. x
