I dont know if this is the right place to post this or not

My oh has just called to ask if he has rights as to having time off during work to come to anti natal appointments with me!

Am I right in thinking that he doesnt have to use his holidays and is allowed time off to come to appointments with me?? ive looked on the net and cant find anything as such but im crap with stuff like this, he wants something to print off to take to work incase they are going to be funny with him?? Not sure if they will be but would like some back up incase they are so we both know where he stands....

anyone know where I should be looking etc???

thanks in advance! xx

I dont think they are allowed paid time off to go to appointments.
My OH had to book time off for the scans.

Will try and get a link for info

ahhh ive just found this.... looks like I was wrong

Is an employee entitled to time off to attend antenatal care appointments?

Under the statutory right to paternity leave, employees are not entitled to time off to accompany their partner at antenatal appointments (although pregnant employees do have the right to time off – see Maternity rights – a guide for employers and employees.

Yeah thats what i found also.
OH never came to one of my antenatal appointments but booked time off work for my two scans

aww its such a shame cause he wanted to come! I dont think hes got enough holidays left to come with me like he wanted to! :(

I'd just try and get him to come to the scans, everything else is pretty boring.

The most exciting thing about ante natal appointments is listening to the heart beat but you could just buy a decent doppler if you wanted him to share that. The rest is just peeing in a pot and paperwork really

My OH had a change of shift last minute and accompanied me to my 16 week antenatal appointment (much to his disgust!) He almost passed out when the midwife started going on about how it is perfectly normal to produce copious amounts of discharge when pregnant! :rotfl:

Ditto what Urchin said. I'd aim for the scans and not worry about the MW ones too much.

TBH I treasured those appointments with the MW on my own as I was able to be really frank about things and not have to worry about OH sat there thinking 'TMI, TMI' :rotfl: Plus he'd have been bored senseless waiting round for an appointment that usually only last 10-15 minutes.

Your OH really isn't missing much honest.

Lee booked the scans and the first antinatal off i think...

If he was off for any others by chance he'd come

brilliant I will let him know, think he just wants to be as involved as possible bless him!

I agree with Sherlock, it was nice to be able to ask things without worrying what DH might think.

Well my DH gets to know ALL the gory details as its HIS fault Im in this state I NEED him to know what he has done to me!!

My DH loves attending my appointments and asks more things than me, I think its really great they want to be more involved, tomorrow we have to rearrange a homevisit for my birth plan as he cant make the appointment- in perticular I think that visit is more important for him to attend than any of the others, but scans are obviously very nice to attend.

Im doubly lucky DH wants to attend the appointments as I cant go out alone/drive to appointments due to blackouts so I need him as a chaperone.

My MW and the hospital arrange my appointments either first or last thing to make sure DH doesnt upset his work schedule too much, maybe you could ask your MW for something similar?
