Had the worst night sleep ever last night. Was awake every bloody hour. My hips are soo sore. I fell asleep on my left side, as always and woke up an hour later still on my left with my hip killing me. So I moved onto my back and fell back asleep. Then woke up an hour later on my right side which my hips killing me. This has gone on all night, back and forward on my hips. The only way I could get comfy was to lie on my back with my legs open  which Lee didnt like as it meant I took up half the bed and had to put my right leg over him. Im had the shittest nights sleep and finding it hard to motivate myself now :(

just needed to have a moan to people who understand :( :( ooooowwwwwwweeeeee :( :(

   have you got a sleeping pillow? it may help take some of the pressure off your hips. Or if you don't have one invest in a matress topper with my disability I get alot of joint pains and find the mattress topper really helps

I have the exact same prob. One hip was sore before I fell pregnant but now the other one is at it too, so I spend all night rolling from one side to the other, which isn't easy when you're the size of a whale   . I asked the pharmacist & she said that heat patches are ok, so when its really bad i put one of those on. I have a hot water bottle too which I put on the one which I'm not lying on. Seems to help a bit. I've also got a spare pillow which I lie on, its a bit softer than the mattress.

You poor thing!!!! I know exactly how you feel, I start on on my right side, then once that hip aches I move to my left and that's pretty much what I do all night long!!! My poor husband pulls his hair out some nights as I fidget so much!!

Plus I have it in my head that laying on my side I am squashing the baby so that makes me not sleep very well either!!!!

I have got a pregnancy pillow but I don't find it helps much for my hips! :D

Ive got a v pillow which I use but it just wasnt working at all last night. Seems great to support my bump but doesnt give much support to my hips?!?!

We also have a memory foam mattress and im wondering if its just too soft for me at the min?!?!

yeah i know what you mean about trying to turn over. I huff and puff and moan as im doing it and wake Lee up even more  I have a water bottle so think I might start using that. BUT im thinking that it will be cold by the time im waking up iykwim? so would only really help when I first go to bed?!? I will also try putting a pillow under my hips to see if that helps.

I just want a decent nights sleep. Everyone is giving it "make sure you get lots of sleep before baby comes" how the freaking hell am I meant to do that with sore hips and loo trips?!?! :wall: :wall:

i had the exact same hun only its been constant for a few days and now ive got physio as they think ive got SPD maybe speak to MW?

I'm the same at the moment too hun
It's not my hips that are the problem though it's my back right at the bottom, I can hardly move when I wake up

I use a little wedge pillow under my bump and fold up a normal pillow and sleep with it in between my knees.

even sitting here on the sofa now and then im getting pains in my hips. I think I might mention it to the midwife just to be on the safe side. I told her at my last appointment cause the bottom of my back and knees also hurt at times and she said it was just cause my body wasnt used to carrying the weight?!?!

if it's around your hips/pelvis hun id get it checked, there was a number for the physio department in my notes not sure if you have that?

Honey i have EXACTLY the same thing. Got 3 hours sleep last night i was so uncomfortable.

I've tried everything, massaging my hips at night time, hot water bottles, stretching exercises (where you lie on your side on the edge of the bed, facing the edge, and let your top leg hang over the edge of the bed - a chiropractor told me to do this last week, and it stretches all the muscles out a bit which helps).. But nothing solves it, and it's driving me mad.

I feel like i have the baby already, i'm so tired! Feel like a total zombie today. Boo hiss!

Aw

Does your hozzie have a NHS physio antenatal class? I'm going to a workshop tomorrow (it's my back with me :( ) and they're meant to advise and show exercises for all kinds of aches and pains. My back hurts most at night, esp when i get up for the loo, so when I think i'm in for a killer I take some paracetamol before bed. It doesn't get rid of the pain bit it helps a bit.
