Just using this to have a little rant lol! Feel free to ignore...or join in with some 'insensitive' friend bashing

I have a friend..well girl i know from school who added me on facebook 6 months or so ago. I never remember being that 'pally' with her...and now i think i can remember why! She had been trying for a baby for 2 years (un beknown to me) when i announced on facebook (lol as you do) she took a really massive interest in my pregnancy. I then go an email saying she was also pregnant and about 5 weeks behind me. This was great as we texted each other about scans etc and found out we are both having boys. Recently tho i have noticed how insensitive she is. She was always obsessed with being a size zero and looking perfect, so obviously baby weight is like the end of her world. Everytime she sees me she says 'oooo your massive, look like your ready to pop' which annoys me coming from anyone and CONSTANTLY asks how many stretchmarks i have (to which i reply i have loads!) and shes like 'well i havent got anything' very smugly  i tried to explain that everyone is different, as i started getting stretchmarks at 15 weeks. It doesnt bother me that i have them as i am just so happy i have a growing bub inside me. Shes also moaning that she will have to go back to work 2 months after giving birth and doesnt no how i will cope for money having a year off (like she knows it all!) for a start her mortgage is double my rent! Then i found out she has spent over a thousand on the nursery and is buying designer gear for the baby and pram etc. I told her i picked everything up dead cheap and am really pleased, which seemed to shock her that i wasnt buying everything new (I LOVE A BARGAIN!). Then she asked about my moses basket...which is 2nd hand and she said oh you must replace the materess on that do you need me to buy you one....   as if i am a charity case!! Me and OH manage very nicely with our money and spend within our means!

SOME PEOPLE!!! :shakehead:

What an insensitive bitch!!! I'm sorry but she really is.
The less you spend on things the more stuff your baby can potentially have!!! I love my bargains! I live on car boots. If i didn't get Angel's toys from there then she wouldn't have half the stuff she has now! Designer clothes are not necessary as baby will either wear once or never! They grow far too quick. All Angel's clothes are from the sale! She get's brand new stuff at half the price! Sensible in my opinion!
As for stretchmarks, yeah i was bothered. I escaped them for 8 months! But now they are my trophy marks! They are a reminder of the most beautiful person growing in there! I'll never be embarrassed if they are seen!
And if she's trying to keep herself as slim as possible throughout this pregnancy then it's her baby she is putting at risk.

Be proud of how you've done things! You've done the sensible options and looked after your wallet as well as yourself! The baby is not gonna know whichever way you do things!

I'd just give up telling her stuff if she's gonna dig at you!

christ she would do my head in! I think the attitude you have is a healthy one. Who cares if you have stretch marks when you have that little baby to look forward to? and as for the second hand items? (you probably saw my thread on carboot bargains) If i were you, i would be polite but keep my distance, that sort of company you just dont need!

Claire x
