So annoyed.
We have lost loads of food. Its only 15 months old! We're waiting for Iceland to get back in touch about it. Whats the betting they will say as its outside the years warrantee so they can't do anything!
We know different though!
DH has been on the phone to trading standards this morning & they said to give Iceland the chance to sort it out first before they get invloved

Is it covered by your home insurance for the loss of food?

Some insurance policies do cover these things.

Hope you get it sorted, it is very frustrating especially when you have things chilled for lo

Even if it's not in warranty I'm pretty sure they have to replace it if it hasn't lasted as long as you would reasonably expect an appliance to last.

Think you do need to wait & see if the retailer/manufacturer will replace it before you can take it further (Trading Standards) though, as it might just be a fault with the one machine.

And as kirly said, frozen food should be covered on your home contents policy as standard.

I would be supprised if your policy didn't cover the loss of the food. Some policies don't even charge an excess for freezer food (i work in home insurance, and we have various different policies which both cover this and do not claim an excess back for this).

Also, some companies wouldn't even remove any no claims discount you had for a claim like this (again, some of the polcies at my work wouldn't remove the NCD for freezer food claims).
in fact 'good' customer service is considered to be to sort a claim like this over the phone in one call. Not a long process at all!

(right going to shut up now.. i become a bore if i put my work hat on!)

Did you get offered an extended warranty on the fridge? sometimes it gets added for a couple of quid extra.

We're waiting for the manager of Iceland to call us back (won't hold my breath!) We know our rights luckily but expecting to get fobbed off. An appliance like a fridge should last about 4-5 years & even if the warranty has run out we are entiltled to repair or replacement, looking forward to the call!!!
We have a £50 excess on our insurance & the contents wouldn't add up to that anyway, so no point bothering them!

Have you checked that the excess applies to frozen food? Some policies are nil excess for things like glass, money & frozen foods. I could be wrong though, I'm a commercial broker so used to dealing with shop policies not home.

aww, stand your ground :) i hope it gets sorted for you soon

Double check that the excess applies to freezer food claims. no point in paying for something if you can get your insurance to pay for it instead
