Turned 40 weeks on the Sunday, started to get trickling down my leg when getting out of bed - rang labour ward kept eye on it, seemed to settle later that day.
Next day (Monday) it happened again when getting out of bed so rang labour ward again - told to come in, waited around for ages - doctors unsure if waters gone or not, was offered induction next day, got home around 3pm and at around 5pm started to get contractions (very painful) around every 10 mins by 2 am they were every 4 mins and unbearable, rang labour ward and was told to wait till lasting longer - then at 5am they just stopped :( so went to bed.
On Tuesday woke 7am with contractions again (strong and painful - unable to talk through them!) went labour ward - 3 cm sent home :( this went on till Thursday!!
Labour ward refused to check me until I was having contractions every 4 mins and lasting 1 min!! Had no sleep from Monday - Friday (when lo was born).
Thursday evening was still getting irregular contractions, but started to feel like I needed to push - rang labour ward again, told they would check now so went in, was very busy - told to wait in a full waiting room having contractions!! was left in waiting room for an hour before someone shouted my name, mw checked me I was 5-6 cm and admitted :) but no rooms or mw's!! told baby was back to back and this was why labour had been so slow! I knew this would mean a longer and more painful time so asked for an epidural, was told no as too many ladies were already having them!!! The only room free was pool room - so got in pool when they eventually found me a mw! 4 hours in there got out and still only 5-6 cm!! asked again for epidural, said no but got some gas and air, they wouldn't even give me pethodine gave me something not as strong can't remember what but it began with m. Then mw said would break waters, just as about to do it water gushed out! Carried on contracting for another 4 hours - then she checked me again, still only 5-6 cm!! and it was only my hind waters that had broken, so she broke the others, and it then became unbearable thought I'd died in parts as kept loosing consciousness and seeing white lights was very scary (too much gas and air probably) then as I could here the morning mw's taking over, I remember screaming to push, night mw said I was not ready, then morning one said I was so began pushing, but nothing happening cause still back to back, I was then made to walk to another room!! dont know how i managed that! Then all i remember was emergency bell was going and I had a room full of doctors and mw's!! Doctor used forcepts to get lo out quick- tore vaginal wall badly and lost 1l of blood :( lo came out crying :):):) but I was in so much pain ( had no pain relief for forceps delivery) I couldn't enjoy it/him :( for the rest of the day I was in the high dependency unit, I couldn't sit up without passing out and I just wanted to look after my baby :(
Now eventually I've made a slow recovery and me lo are doing well :)

Jeeso!!! Sounds like you had a hell of a time ! Glad you both are doing well though ! xx

My Jack was back to back so I totally sympathise with you there, the pains are 100 times worse I reckon and it took me well over 24 hours to reach 4cms! Luckily I had an epidural and he turned himself!

I can't believe they refused you an epidural!! I thought if you ask for one and your at the 'right' stage they couldn't refuse!! You did amazingly well hun because I know I couldn't have given birth without my epidural!

Many congratulations on your little bundle! :) x

They can refuse as it depends how many people are getting them at the time as there may only be 1 or 2 anaethsatists in the labour ward at the time and could be busy with other people at the time, so you can be refused as horrible as it sounds !

I had a forceps delivery too with no pain relief as went from 4cm to 10 in half hour! Feel for you but glad you are getting better now n ur bubba is ok x

Thats terrible! But I guess understandable if the guys are busy with others.

There was a line across the last bit of your birth story earlier?! I had a forceps delivery too but with an epidural, hats off to you and anyone else who has it with pain relief! x

Congratulations to you, sorry to hear you had a bad time but well done! xxx
