Hi ladies,
Sorry its late posting this, but had a very manic 3 weeks. Here is my birth story.
[email protected]: Started getting strong contractions that were coming every 6-11 minutes so called the birthing unit where i was due to have her and they asked me to go in.
[email protected]: Got to birthing unit (after having to wait for FIL to come look after our son) she had a listen and babys heart was going strong. she held on to my bump to feel the contractions aswell. Then just plodded around the suite waiting to see if contractions intense and come more often
[email protected]: she did an internal to see how it was and said i was 2cm but it was very stretchy and stretching to 4cm. She gave me a sweep to encourage it on.She said labour could happen now or tonight so said instead of waiting about go home have some sleep and when i get 3 contractions in a 10 min period to go back up. so off home we went. i asked her how long did she think till i went in labour as i know babies come when they are ready, and she said you will have her tonight.
Contractions started strong again at 12noon, and by 3pm were getting closer together so called unit again and a different mw on duty said to go in but if nothing was happening was gonna send me home ( not as nice as the mw i saw in early hours).
[email protected]: Went back in the suite i was in earlier and the mw came in with a student mw who could see the contractions coming, as they intensed i shed a tear because when it got to that peak it was very painful. mw went off and left student in with us.
[email protected]: sat about bouncing on the ball eating and reading newspaper (which id send oh out to get lol) and just kept bouncing lol.
[email protected]: was examined and was now 5-6cm so mw said id be staying in. She gave another sweep.
between this time contractions were becoming very painful that i then asked for Gas and Air at 1900pm. whilst on gas and air, sorry to put detail but i sicked up the grab bag of cheese doritos i had just eaten, and asked OH why i sounded like somebody from crimewatch whos voice had been dubbed.. he found this highly amusing and said i didnt which made me cry, because i sounded like i was talking in slow motion lol.. also when on g&a i started having a convo about a man needing something, OH and student mw asked who i was on about and i just changed the subject-gas and air is naughty hahaa
The mw i had in the morning came back on shift and i was so happy.
not sure on time now but contractions were very close so she put me on the bed so i could relax. she went off to get some paper work and student mw was at end of bed, i said i think my waters have gone (as i felt trickling down my leg) she looked and said no nothing there.. it happened again and i said its happening again my waters have gone, she had a look and same response. she disappeared and i was panicing to my OH saying they need to get the pool filled or i wont get to go in there.. (either it was my waters woman or id peed myself.. which i dont recall... lol) She returned with my mw who i told i thought my waters had gone, she had a look and said they was bulging and then they went. in this time the pool had started to get filled and they all helped me over to it. i got in and had g&a and breaking my oh hand lol.. mw was rubbing my back reassuring me i was going great and then when pushing she said babys head was going to be born, so i pushed her out then she said on next push body will come out, and i was panicking and said she would have to catch the baby, and she did. At 21.35pm i gave birth to Amelia-Jasmine, followed by the placenta. Legs were jellyfied so i was helped back to the bed, laid there for a bit and then went in to have a shower. They have family rooms there with doubke bed so OH got to stay the night with us. i asked to be discharged in the morn as i had little man at home waiting, i had a check and baby had her check and we was home by 11am woo.No Tears or stitches needed but did get a few labial grazes.

16:30-Onset of labour- Duration: 5hrs
21:30- Full Dilation of Cervix- Duration: 5 Mins
21:35-Birth of Child- Duration : 17mins
21:52-Delivery of Placenta- Duration: 2 mins or so, my squatting didnt deliver it , the actual getting up to get out the pool made me push and it fell out.
Blood Loss: 300mls
Cord vessel number:3
Spontaneous Onset of labour, all completed with Maternal Effort.
