My 2.9 year old will be in nappies forever...

Please dont stress! my 3 year 7 month old has only started using the potty/toilet 'properly' this week, she has been dry and even done her poop in the potty, I tried her at 2 years and she wasnt ready then I tried her at 2.5 years and she started out well but then refused completely and the health visitor said to try again in a few months, I tried at 3 years and she told me she wouldnt use the potty/toilet because she doesnt like it so we tried everything bribes, star charts, treats every time she would go, praise and nothing worked. I started my 2 year old a few days ago and she is doing okay, with a few accidents which is to be expected but it has completely made my 3 year old get herself on the potty, she has been completely dry so I am hoping it means that the peer pressure from her younger sister has helped give her motivation she needs.

I felt like my boy would never be potty trained as he was never interested in the potty. Knew what it was for but always refused to use it. We tried potty training a few times between the ages of 2 and 3 and then one day, a few weeks after his 3rd birthday he asked to wear big boy pants and that was it. He was dry within 5 days. He was one of the last of his friends to potty train but I just thought there was no point pushing him when he wasn't ready.
He still wears a pull up to bed as he wees a lot at night but that's another bridge that I need to cross!
Give him time and follow his lead. It will come!

I had to try my son 3 or 4 times before he cracked it hun. They do get there I promise! In the end we stuck him in a pair of pants and told him everytime he used to potty/toilet he got a gummy bear! We had tried all sorts of methods including this one before and it didn't work until he was ready. We found a seat to use on the toilet better for him also. Xxx
