my brother has a doctors appt tomorrow as we think he has got mumps. thing is i live with him and so have been in contact with him. is this something to be worried about?

have you looked it up on NHS direct or on other medical websites? he should ask his GP for you too....

Have you had mumps before?

If you have you should be ok.

i thought it was quite dangerous for pregnant women to be in contact with anyone with mumps, thats why they recommend you have your MMR before you ttc or get pg. If he has got mumps id get in contact with your mw or doctor right away.

Hi

I also hear its not good , ide talk to your doctor.
Katrina

well w wont know til tomorrow if he def has but i have had the mmr jab before so does that mean im covered

yeah you should be fine we had an outbreak at work when i was pregnant and was told by occy health that i was ok as i had MMR

does the effect of the jab wear off though i havn't had the mmr since i was at at school and id say i had it about 9 years ago

I doubt it as people would have to have it again I would have thought. I didn't have any jabs but had mumps so couldn't say. I would call NHS Direct to find out asap to set your mind at rest. 0845 4647
