Hi,
My LO had his shots today and I had a quick chat with the Dr about his nutritional requirements at his age and she told me fruits, vegs, chicken and fish! and also she told me he needs to take multi-vitamins once a day as he might not take all his vitamins from the food! I called my friend to ask she told me she didn't gave her 2 LO's multi-vitamins until they were 1 year old!

Also the Dr told me I should expose my LO to either early morning or lat afternoon sun to fulfill his vitamin d requirements!

Plz tell me it's not necessary to do all this! I really like everything to be as natural as possible and not to complicate things for him.

I have never given any vitamins and don't intend to tbh unless she gets ill and needs them for that. She eats a balanced and varied diet and I am confident that she is getting what she needs from that. I read in the paper about babies being deficient in vitamin d as we keep them out of the sun all the time, so there may be some sense in that (not that we get a lot over here!)

If your baby is being fed milk (formula or breast milk) till he is a year old then that is his main source of nutrition. In formula they include everything incuding iron which gardually depletes around 6 months onwards, so your LO won't be lacking that.

Food till a year old is about learning to taste, texture and so on. Its not about baby having 3 meals a day to fill them up. They get far more nutrition from the baby milk than they do from any solid food.

Thanx all,
Sherlock thanx I wanted to hear that really as I already read about it but when the Dr said so I got a bit confused. I am making sure he is taking at least 4 full bottles a day. around 200 ml per/bottle, sometimes he takes 5 but not full but they do total up to 4 full bottles everyday + one small meal in the morning (baby rice) which he loves. and in the evening i introduce a new veg or fruit every 4 days and he is enjoying the experience. he eats well sometimes if he likes it sometimes he doesn't but I do agree that his main source of nutrition is milk.
