how old was ur baby when u moved them into a cot into their own room? the health visitors say they should be in the room with you for 6 months???? finley wont fit in his moses basket for much longer and theres no way i'm having the cot in the room and it wont even fit anyway.

Paige has been in her cot since about 4 weeks but she's still in my room. If I had a spare room to put her in though she'd of been moved into her own room by now. I think she'd sleep alot better. I know they say you should have them in with you until their 6 months but I think its just personal preference.

i think its just silly 2 b honest. 6 months!! surely most people dont have room 4 a cot in there bedroom???
god melio ur moses basket was a waste of money then lol?

My son will be in with us until 8 mths, but only because when he isn't sharing with us, he will be wit his sister and I don't want to risk moving him and him disturing her as she still has to get up and be in nursery by 8.
Though I would probably keep him in with us anyway (we have a big bedroom, and a tiny single - very out of proportion!) until about 6 mths for my own peace of mind, also, he doesn't stir at all when we come in and out
He still sleeps in his Moses - at 8 weeks - and though very long, he could still fit for about another two lol, but his Moses has always been in his cot, so hes used to the height - where in the room it is etc etc
xx

Lacey was put in a cot at 4 weeks then when I moved into my 2 bed house she went straight into her own room at 3 months! Little man will share laceys room when he out grows his Moses basket so will be about a month old!

Baby will be straight into a cotbed in my bedroom for the first 9 months but I did the sane with my other two in with me for the first nine months but they were Moses basket first baby is gonna look a dot in the cotbed :cloud9:

I've got a Moses basket for the lounge coz it was cheap off eBay and will stop the kids hugging (smothering) baby when first few weeks lol

check! got some of those, looks like im doing alright so far for stuff lol! x

Hi flexi,
Check this, but I was told you shouldn't use a bumper until the baby is at least 6 mths oldish as if they bury their face into it they could suffocate.
I also wouldnt have bothered with a Moses basket, except my sister gave me my nieces, so I didn;t have to pay for it. Also apparantly some babies freak out as the space seems too big for them, but as long as you swaddle for a little while after their born, shouldn't be a problem.
In terms of mattress, get one with a plastic cover thing built into one side of it, or get a plastic sheet to put under the normal sheet so if they vomit, have any accidents etc, it won't soak through to the mattress
xx

I've Hurd about the bumper too but tbh mine is on coz I don't think the newborn is gonna crawl up the other side of the cot bed haha!! I've got flat Moses basket sheets I will fold just out put under the baby then the mattress can still breathe and I can just change the bit under their head if they are sick rather than the whole cot xx but yes omg fantastic point about the sick ext... My DD had a reflux puke for England and it was a life saver thinking of that one extra layer xx

Lol it saves so much hassle doesn't it, and when they get older - ie. bed, try and do the same thing again - plastic built into mattress, or plastic sheet, so there are no major traumas if they have any accidents when they are no longer in nappies!
I haven't got a bumper, as we didn't know if my son was a boy or girl and they all seemed gender specific, but I must admit, I do want to get one soon ish (though prob won't be for a while) as the cot looks so bare without it!
x

My SIL put both her babies straight into a cot in their own rooms from the first night, as she didn't have the space in there bedroom for a cot. The walls are very thin and they are both fine.

I plan to have baby in with us for a short time in the moses basket, but our room isn't that big, so once we feel happy we will pop baby into their own room.

I bought a matters for the travel cot and have it in my room, he has grown out of the basket and I don't want him in his room yet xxx

Thanks for tips on bumper, my bumper is really quite small and doesn't cover hardly any of the edges of the cot, and I was gonna feet to foot in the cot, so don't think it will cause too much greif. Xx

Just reading through this thread and this may seem like a silly queston but where do you get plastic cot covers and ones for adult beds? I want one for baby's cot and for my bed in case my waters go during the night and I just don't know where to look! LOL

xxxx
