I can't believe that I am actually having to start thinking about this now three weeks before my sons second birthday!

We have the maxi cosi priori car seat which has a recommended age of 3-3.5 years. The weight limit on it is 18kg and when LO was last weighed he was about 16kg. He is exceptionally tall and I noticed this morning that his head is actually peeping up over the top of it.

I know with the baby carrier car seats that it's recommended to move them once their head is past the top. Is it the same or different with the next stage ones? Or can he stay in it until he reaches the weight?

If I'd known how tall he was going to be I would've got one of these flipping multi stage ones!

With stage 1 it's when their ears or eyes are level with the top of the shell. So hopefully you'll be able to keep him in it for a little while yet.

Definitely join the fb group mentioned above. They're very helpful.

My LO is 2 years 7 months and I'm having the same thought! The top of his head is slightly above the top of the seat and I don't know what to do as he's too young for a booster. I don't really know what the other options are x

You can get 25kg harnessed seats. I'd double check your car seat manual but it isnusual when their eyes are level with the top of the seat. It does depend on the seat though so hence checking the manual.

The group everyone's sugegsted are great.

Edit: the 25kg harnessed seats have a larger shell so are normally good for taller children

I've been looking into this too. My lg is 2 and 16.2kg, I know weight gain is slow now and she's got a teeny bit more headroom but I'm thinking about the next seat too as I know this one certainly won't last for another 2 years.
I think the Britax 2 way Elite rear faces with a 5 point harness up to 25kg and has the tallest shell. Are you far from Wiltshire? Securatot are based there and are great for advice, they stock most ERFs and you can try your kid out in them, they can fit it and show you how to strap them in etc etc. Its a 2hr30 drive from me but I think I'm going to go when the time comes. The Facebook is great, been on it for a while but I just want proper face to face advice from experts who will show me how to do it and of course have my toddler try them out.
Good luck!x

Thanks everyone will check out the face book page, just relieved we have a bit longer to really look around at what's available. Goat I live in North Wales so not really local to Wiltshire unfortunately.
