Can u get the morning after pill from a chemist these days???

Asking for a friend

hehe tell you're friend that yes you can, they will take you into a little room and ask some questions to make sure you know how it works and that you havnt had it too many times before etc and then they will give it you, they say now its better to take them both together than wait to 12 hours between that they used to say :)

i think you can. you have to buy it though. not sure how much it costs.

I always used to get it free? Then again was when i was like 16 odd, maybe it was because i was under 18 ?

You can buy the morning after pill from the chemist now, but you have to pay £20 for it. If you dont get your prescriptions for free from the doctor is £6. I think you might get it for free from the family planning clinics but im not sure about that one. :) Hope that has helped your friend out a bit

:rotfl:

Thanks for the advice i will tell her to use her doctors rather than the chemist

I cant belive it costs that much

Yep, free on prescription and as far as i know its £20-25 over the counter :)

no i dont think they are, but have a high chance of working dont they?

My mum bought it a couple weeks ago for £25 from Boots. She said that it was the best £25 she's ever spent :rotfl: She's 41 but convinced she's still as fertile as she was 20 years ago and that if you have unprotected sex once you're doomed. She's been with my stepdad for about 20 years but must have felt really embarassed going in and asking for it now she's a granny :rotfl:

i really really cant belive how expensive it is, i thought it was there so they could try and stop unwanted pregnanies how are some people supposed to affored that!!!

I suppose they're cashing in on the market of women that go out on a Saturday night, get drunk, have unprotected sex but have work to worry about on a Monday so can't make an appointment to go to the docs then, therefore have to buy it at the weekend/in their lunch break.
Not saying that all women who take it are drunken hussies, I've taken it before but that was years ago and from the family planning clinic (actually got a friend to go and get it for me).

I imagine they're trying to put people off using it as a method of contraception.

I had a condom split once, took the morning after pill and still got pregnant. I was with my fiancee at the time and when we then went to the doctors to get the morning after pill, he was really rude and judgemental, like we were not being carefull and it was our fault and we shouldnt be having sex anyway.

i got it from a pharmacy once and ended up costing £25, i was so scared of getting pregnant i dropped it on the dirty floor and still took it!! wish i didnt now, i probebly wouldnt have got pregnant anyway
