Hi all,

Baby due very soon and I fully intend to Breastfeed, for use in public (I'm not a prude but I do believe in modesty) can people please recommend a good solution for covering up?

Thanks in advance :)

The best advice I got was 2 vest tops .. one come up, one comes down and your modesty is still intact

Thanks, the only problem with that for me is that I wear a lot of dresses/jumper and not a lot of trousers and tops, may have to invest in a few bits of good/accessible clothing as I plan on breastfeeding for a while :)

I am a prude...! But I've never used a cover as such. I do feed in public but only in certain places or with certain people. A lot of ladies on here will say wear 2 tops, so a jumper over a vest top, pull the jumper up and vest top down and once your baby is latched noone will see anything! I've tried using muslins to cover in the past but its such a faff, I didn't bother in the end!

You may need to invest in some nursing dresses for easy access, normal dresses/long tops are a bit hard to get access to boobs through (or so I find).

As for modesty covers, I've got some large Aden and Anais muslins I was using in the early days but now when I'm out and about I feel it draws attention to me - is head covers everything and acts as a good modesty cover :-)

Use a long circular scarf or a loose shops. Brill modesty covers and don't draw attention like a muslin does xx

I bought a nursing cover from TK Maxx. It's a big square which your wear just like an apron. Up at the top, at the neck there is a piece of metal/plastic which curves outwards. This means I can look down at lo without lifting up the cover and see everything is ok, it also stops lo getting too hot. I don't always use it, it depends where I am. I always take it out, just in case. I've also seen them in Boots, exactly the same but more expensive.

I've been wearing jeans and a jumper with a cami top underneath...jumper comes up, cami pulls down under your bra. Honestly you can't see a thing cos your jumper covers anything not in baby's mouth. I find that this is more discreet than using a scarf etc cos I find it hard to get my LO latched on properly whilst I'm fussing under a scarf and end up flashing my nipple to the world! x

As ladies say , new look £1.99 stretchy strap vest top under and normal top to come up and i have some lovely bright coloured muslins from mothercare just for tucking into bra strdp at neck and covers whole side of me ( front and back like a sling and wont fall out. Just covers when baby comes off boob etc no boob on show

Cardigans could easily do up and keep bubs head warm too lol

Two tops here as well. I always felt covers etc just drew more attention - plus one more thing to hang on to iykwim.

I got some nursing vests from peacocks then just put whatever top I'm wearing over the top.
If your a dress girl you'll have to have a look at some nursing dress's I think you may struggle with modesty otherwise lol

Unless its s wrap/crossover stretchy dress, you will need a head to toe cover.
I.used bebe au lait with my first and nothing with my second. He is more distracted by the cover and hot inside it. If a glimpse.of a nipple scares anyone,.I.always carry a bottle of water in case they feel faint ;)

Good idea knopk! And a sugar lump to revive them?
