Birthing Outfits

Thanks Sams Mum, I didnt think of Primark, that's a great idea as I could probably afford to get several from there. But they don't do specific maternity clothes do they? Was this just from general sleepwear? I was there the other day for fluffly slipper socks and really love the adult fluffly babygrow things, but my husband said I would never leave the house if I got one!

Btw, massive congratulations on your pregnancy!! I'm so thrilled for you. xxx

Thank you

It was just from the normal sleepwear section but I was massive and they were still big enough to fit over my bump without me feeling like I was wearing a tent  I love the babygrow things!!

Oh and I also got some stretchy black trousers to wear after the birth - you kind of want to have something round your bum when you've got big maternity pads stuck down there

It's funny, I never went in to Primark for years and since being pregnant and having to wear clothes that i grow out of in less then a month, I seem to have bought loads of stuff in there. Because you can wear it and then grow out of it and throw it away.

I did buy some fluffy primark pj's recently, extra large for full bump coverage. They do these fleece ones in a huge variety of designs - like snowflakes and reindeer etc. The ones I got had Scottish Terriers on and were black with white polka dots, I thought they would be perfect to wear around the hospital but my husband put them on and said they were so comfy I have barely seen him out of them! Might stock up in several different designs, they were only £8 a pair.

I also bought some fabulous long slipper socks, almost furry inside, with non-slip bottoms. I heard your feet can get very cold during labour even if you are hot and sweating?

I have several things as not sure what I will be most comfortable in or how messy I will get (cringes at the thought!)........I have a nightie with buttons all the way down from matalan (£6) an old shirt of my OH's and another nightie (primark I think with buttons at the top).......also got a bikini top for if I can use the pool. I have really comfy PJ's for after and a dressing gown/slippers. Got more PJ's at home for OH to bring in if I stay longer. xxx

Primark is good but yeah the stuff doesn't last too long when its went through a wash, I find esp with the kids stuff, its totally diff after just one wash - & shrinks a hell of alot more than any other shop.

I was pleased when I went in, picked up slippers (for hosp bag) thought they were £3 & they were actually scanned at 50p at the till....love it when that happens!!

:)

Has anyone had a water birth? I am hoping for that....can I ask what u wore? A tankini top and nothing down below was my initial thoughts? Fully naked??

Im having c section and wondered what to take. Bought really nice pjs from
Mamas and papas with buttons at top to open if I do breastfeed! But lounge type pjs/casual wear in the day ! What do u think? Or do I need proper clothes? Oh lord and make up? Didn't know if I'd have time! X

Thank god for this forum, I'm only 4 weeks but am fast learning I know nothing so am very grateful for all of you :)

With regards a waterbirth ForestLas, my friend recently had one and just wore a bikini top. It made her feel like she was wearing something but allowed for skin to skin xxx

Its totally up to you. Depends how you want to look when there is visitors ect. As I said above, I found it helps in hosp to wear something day time ish, as you'll probs be in and out of bed alot more than you think.

I've picked proper clothes that are just as comfy as jammies but dont look like jammies.

:)

I'm definitely taking some makeup, but want to look 'naturally beautiful' for the first pictures of me and baby. So I was going to go for waterproof mascara (I'm bound to cry buckets) and tinted lip gloss. Probably nothing else. I also bought some Johnsons facial wipes. A friend said they were invaluable to her, she used them to clean not only her face but also under her arms and the back of her neck and was instantly refreshed.

Do you not get your own room when you have twins??

MW's were forcing us to go in & get ready each morning loool - its what I needed or I might have laid about like that all day - its wierd getting ready in the mornings in hosp coz u dont actually feel like you've been to bed or slept.

Oh & i'm taking a smallish mirror too, so I can put on make up in bed if need be!!

:)

last time i went in to have my baby they had a hair dryer in the day room so id say u can use your dryer and straightners in there hun,it really does make u feel better on the inside when u look good on the outside doesnt it.xxx
