Miscarriage?

I had my last period on 18/11/2008. My cycle is always a regular 28days and after fainting twice and feeling out of sorts I took two digital home tests on 19/12/2008 which showed positive. This morning after sex with my OH I began bleeding. Last night I woke up with a stabbing sensation in my tummy but now I don't have any cramps or any other symptoms

I have made an appointment with my doctor for wednesday morning (the soonest I could get). Can anyone tell me what to expect? Is it likely that I am miscarrying? How long will it take for the HCG levels to decrease if I am miscarrying?

If you had the bleed after sex then it is more than likely that was the cause of your bleed. You can get spotting and cramps throughout pregnancy and it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to have a m/c. The fact it's now stopped and hasn't worsened is a good sign. It's bright red blood with lots of period type pain that you need to watch out for.

Your GP will probably refer you to your local early pregnancy unit at the hospital where they might do a scan, although you're very early so it probably won't show anything yet, and a blood test to check your hormone levels. They then normally repeat the test 48 hours later to see whether they're rising or falling.

Bleeding after sex is apparently quite common as in pregnancy the cervix is more sensitive and also there is an increased blood flow in the area. If its just a little bit that has stopped now then there is probably nothing to worry about. All the same, take it easy and look after yourself.

I've been worrying about spotting for a couple of days and I feel a million times better for speaking to my GP today. (First chance I have had with the surgery being closed over Christmas). Its probably worth giving them a bell and getting referred to a specialist - I at least feel like something is getting done now and its putting my mind at rest.

i found out i was pregnant on 16th november my last period was 15th october so i was 4w4d. 2 days later i had sex and started bleeding the next day. unfortunately for me it was a miscarriage.

at EPU they take ur blood for HCG, and then again after 48 hours. its supposed to double. if it only increases a tiny bit the pregnancy is likely to fail, and if it decreases its a definite m/c.

my HCG was 961 at bang on 5 weeks, then down to 636 after 48 hours. one week after the second test i had a third and it was 187. by december i was getting BFN's so it wouldve been less than 10.

Fingers crossed for you. As people have said, bleeding in early pregnancy is surprisingly common. Let's hope it was just your cervix complaining about the sex and nothing more sinister.

sounds like you may have just over done it hun and its your body telling you to slow down maybe.

With both mine i had dull cramping and aches along with brown spotting for 10 days before actually heavy bleeding and passing baby.

They will probs do bloods on you and see if they double/fall over 48 hours. If there is a chance you are later on they may do a scan also
