I had the mirena fitted on 19th of this month and today I checked for the first time to see if I can find it and I can't find it :( so scared.

What do I do? The doctor said it easily falls out within the first six weeks of the fitting so don't rely on it x
SENT FROM MY GALAXY S III WISH IT WERE A IPAD THOUGH.

Sometimes mine are hard to.check because they tuck themselves around the cervix. Are you certain you've felt the cervix and all around it?

My doctors reckon you'd know if it were to fall out. I was so aware of mine for the first month Im positive I would know if it had fallen out.

I got OH to check and he said its definitely there x

I had a check at mine in the 1st 6 weeks and I couldn't feel the threads, my OH has never noticed them, but I went for my 6 week check and it was there. I'm not aware of my coil at all.

I just had a poke about and i could feel the threads. Not aware of it otherwise though

I had one before I was pregnant. I never found my threads. Then when I went to have it taken Out to try for a baby the drs couldn't find it either so had to have an op to get it out

my copper one sometimes did this, I tended to check mine in the bath where I was relaxed and if I couldn't feel it check the next day and it was always there, the threads sometime get tucked :flower:

I've had the Mirena twice. The first one was for 4 yrs took it out to conceive. Had another one inserted for 4.5 yrs, went to the dr on 07.08.14 to get it removed and found out we were BFP. I routinely check my cervix for my string after each cycle and as usual its always there, wrapped around my cervix but never hard to find. My doc had no problems removing it bcuz it was visible and where it was supposed to be. I guess OH knocked it slightly out of place...lol. Anyways it was a happy surprise for us. Doc said that it is rare that women get BFP while on the Mirena. I believe she said 1 out of 100. But glad you found your string!

I'm having my six week check tomorrow so need to think about contraception. My gp has recommended the mirena coil but I've read conflicting reviews about horrid side effects. Those of you who've had it, did you have any side effects and would you have it again? I'm thinking that or the implant but apparently the implant causes irregular bleeding? X
