Has anyone ever done it?

I've emailed my local milk bank about becoming a donor, think I may as well as I don't want to dump milk - I hope they accept me.

I looked into it but the nearest hospital that accepted donated milk were over 50 miles from me so wouldn't of been practical for me trying to store at the right time etc.

I think it's amazing for you to do it and if you can help someone else's baby get the same benefits you've given Aaron then you should be immensely proud of yourself x

They don't do it in my area but think its a great idea! X

They don't do it in my area either but I would have loved to do it :( hope you do get accepted xx

I seen this on a programme about bf on bbc 2 a while ago. There was a lady who donated her breast milk. I was speaking to a mw on the postnatal ward who said its like gold and sadly hospitals have to pay a lot of money for it. I would do it if my hospital offered it etc something ill need to look into.
But Well Done you tweety for wanting to donate x

There's a group on FB called human milk for human babies. You can give your milk to other mums looking for milk donations in your area x

I have done this for Birmingham Woman's hospital.

They were incredibly helpful, they sent me out lots of information beforehand to help me make up my mind whether I wanted to do it. They would send me out the pre-sterilised bottles to use, they also sent me a freezer thermometer and a chart to record the freeer temperature twice a day. I know some hospitals have drivers that will come and collect the milk from you, mine didn't but if I phoned them before I left the house they would stay in their office until I phoned then when I pulled up outside the hospital, this meant I didn't need to pay for parking or lug my LO out of the car!

I had to have some blood tests done and complete a medical questionnaire before I could start. I know my hospital ask you to commit to a minimum donation (30 x 100ml bottles) due to the cost of processing each donor. 1 100ml bottle can feed 5 premature babies for 1 day so you can make a big difference!

You can keep donatin until your LO is 6 months because that's when your milk changes, unfortunately I had to stop earlier as I was started on medication for post natal depression.

Any questions, I'd be happy to help xx

I got told that not a lot of places do it due to the infection aspect. Think it's a great idea tho for hospitals!
Xxx

I looked into it but not a lot, as only milk
Bank in Scotland is Glasgow, which I thought ruled me out - but they've started sending milk up here, so I might be able to.

You can donate after little one is 6 months, as long as you have started before that.

Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(
