Im a little worried that ellie might have a milk allergy of some sort as Sam was allergic to milk when he was a baby and had to have goats milk so this increases the chances of her being allergic quite alot... I did tell my MW when I was late in pregnancy about the allergy but she didnt really seem concerned and wrote nothing in my notes so I havent really thought much more about it until now.

She has quite runny poo (which i know is normal but its really runny alot of the time), really bad wind and tummy pains, we've put it down to colic so far but just wanted to rule out any allergies just incase but not sure how to go about it. Would cutting out diary products and seeing if we notice an improvement be worth a shot as usually the allergy is to cows milk which she would be getting through breastmilk?

Has anyone got a baby thats allergic to milk? How did u know thats what it was & what are the symptoms? Would I have to stop breastfeeding?

hey hun.. cutting out diary products would help alot, it also helps with colic too. I dont think you would have to stop breast feeding, would just mean changing what you eat and drink.

Jo, Iv just found this link for you hun and hope its helpful, go down and the breastfeeding part is subtitled.

Hope its of some help for you

When Tia was 8months old, she got meningitis, then caught rota virus in hospital...subsequently she was left lactose intolerant. Everytime a small amount of lactose got into her diet she'd suffer the most hideous chronic diarrhoea and projectile vomiting. I was still bfing and cut out lactose from my diet because if I had anything with lactose in it...it would show in Tia. Tia was weaned at the time, but its was much easier to put her onto SMA LF formula milk than keep a constant track of my diet 8 years ago. nowadays its much easier as things are much better labelled and there are loads of lactose free products.

also make sure to monitor your orange/citrus fruit juice intake as it will go straight through your breast milk... if your not drinking any, try and drink more and if you're drinking a lot, I'd suggest you cut back... Its what I've been drinking recently because lil miss is very constipated...and she screams in pain trying to poop sometimes, just like colic.
