Midwife..??!!

I went to the docs, and they arranged for me to see my midwife very early on..

6weeks...

she took some details and some blood, and said she'd see me again between 9-11weeks, before scan to give me documetation i need etc..

NOTHING..
so i've rang and someone said she'd call bk, that was over a week ago.. still NOTHING??

maybe i'm still early in there eyes? but i'm 16weeks tomorrow?
without this site, and family, i'd have no other support. expecially as its my first..

or am i over re-acting? when did you see your midwife's? xxx

You should be offered one soon hun as 16 wks is when you can have the blood tests for abnormalities if you want them. If its been a week I would call and just note you were wondering when you would be seen again. When you see her maybe you could explain how your feeling.and get her to let you know exactly when you will see her throughout this pregnancy.

i had loads of blood tests at 6weeks, and i'm sooo scred of needles, i'm worried if shes forgot about me has she lost my blood tests to?

i cant face those tests again lol..

well i'll have to face more needles i'm sure

i've asked various friends, and they said i should have heard from her before scan, i felt so embarrest, as i didnt have all my docs for scan, and lady was very snotty with me about "forgetting" them, even tho i havent got them in first place

i'll try ring them again tomorrow morning,
but i hate mythering people.. xx

I'd definitely give her a call babe.

My MW is cr*p anyway and I'm not keen on her at all. She doesn't give me ANY info and is always getting me confused with other people. I just have no faith in her what so ever... This is my first too so I don't have a clue what comes next either!

I bet I p*ss off my MW loads with all my calls and stuff. Stuff her! If she doesn't tell me when she next needs to see me then I need to find out somehow and it serves her right lol so yes, I annoy the hell out of her

You need to see her this week really. I chose not to have more bloods done (to check for downs etc) because A) I am so bad at waiting for results and didn't want to put myself through that B) I'm terrible with needles and C) because whatever the risk of Downs, there is still a risk IMO whether that's 1 in 5000 or 1 in 50.

Sorry I've rambled but yeah, definitely give her a call. xxx

I booked in with my midwife at 13wks 4days and had a scan the next day at the hospital where they booked my 21 week scan and done my bloods.
I saw the consultant at 20(so thats 13 to 20 to see someone) and don't see my midwife for the 2nd time in this whole pregnancy until i'm 26 wks . I think you have two or sometimes three bloods drawn in preg

That must be how they do things nowadays

Yeah I am due more bloods at 28 weeks which is normal I think Eeeek!!! x

i'll wait till middle of week, if she hasnt rang i'm going to insist i speak to my midwife, and not just have a message passed on as that doesnt seem to work..

i can understand there really busy, etc..

but sometimes just 1call would make all the difference..

They probably are really busy, but it's not your fault that they are babe and you're a pregnant lady with questions so the time should be taken to call you back (what would it take? A whole 5 minutes?!)

At my booking in appointment on the back of my yellow notes they filled in a chart showing me what weeks I should see the midwife, when I should have a scan or bloods done etc. I have to call my doctors surgery to book an appointment when I need one with the midwife so it is all up to me. Maybe you should ring and book an appointment in the same way, then at least you've been proactive about it. They are meant to see you more with your first anyway, I believe.

Hi hun, at my 12 week scan I was given my notes at the hospital on the way out and told to make an appointment myself with the midwife for after 15 weeks. Thankfully OH was with me and absorbed this information as I was in such a giddy excited state with being given the scan photos that I didn't pay attention to all she was saying and would have still been waiting for a letter!

Have to make another appointment to see her at 22 weeks now.

I'd definitely give your MW a ring early in the week and make an appointment, might be that the hospital forgot to tell you to make it yourself, wouldn't surprise me!

I booked in with my midwife at 6 weeks & she told me to make another appointment after my scan at about 14 weeks. You definitely should see her again soon - is she based at your surgery? Can you just make an appointment?

You should definatly phone her as monthly check ups are important. Don't feel as though you are annoying them hun, a lot of us on here have never done this before and its a completely new and life changing experience so we have no idea what to expect, whats normal and whats not etc. Midwifes are there to help us and reassure us so if they get annoyed its their problem. If they don't like helping people then they shouldn't have trained for the job! sorry thats not very helpful, i think i'm going a bit hormonal again there!

i've decided to get onto case tomorrow moring, if i dont here bk, i'll just make another docs app at surgery to annoy them to annoy the midwife lol..


dunno what i'd do without this site, all i'd know was that i'm pregnant lol..

you girls are officially my Wedmidwife.. hehe xx
