Hi guys, I need some advice please.

I went to see my midwife on Friday. I have a team of midwives so this one wasn't one I'd met before. She was a bit dopey and not very friendly. Anyway, she looked in my yellow notes and said that I had thrush and that I needed to get pessaries to treat it. She couldn't be bothered to find a doctor in the hospital to sign a prescription so told me I could buy it in the pharmacy or get the prescription from my GP for free.

Yesterday I went to my GP. I walked 20 minutes to the surgery and had to wait an hour to be seen. My GP looked at my notes and said that the midwife was completely wrong and that I do not have thrush and that the notes very clearly say that thrush is not present. A wasted trip and I got home exhausted (get very tired walking anywhere at the moment).

The question is, should I report this midwife to anyone as I could have treated myself for something I do not have and I do not know if this could have caused more problems or not. Or should I just leave it and hope that next time she is a bit more with it?

I would probably call the m/w team to point out your concerns.
If you really aren't happy with that particular m/w I would ask not to see her again.

As far a thrush treatment goes, it is safe during pg, just been given it by my doc and she said that it is perfectly safe.

Can fully understand your frustration though, i would have been very out out!

i wouldnt go behind her back i would ring and talk to her (be nice) and just explain that she said you had thrush and you never ect it may have been a bad day(yes i know she shouldnt make mistakes) but shes only human .shell probably be really embarassed and apologetic and for me that would be enough.

i wud understand ur frustration.. but she is human and we all make mistakes...

just talk to her on a one on one level tho..

good luck!
