the midwife tried for ages and just could not find baby heartbeat mine kept coming up and she kept saying no thats yours. I know she said not to worry as still so small but cant help it especially as I lost a twin around 9 weeks with no signs or anything, still not bled like they said i would. I have to go back next week and they will try again next week, I thought it would be a great birthday present to hear it but instead it has just caused worried me. in my prvious pregnancies they have never ha a problem finding it and even commented its easier cause i thin. Has anyone else experienced this and can reassure me.

My midwife couldn't find one at a similar time - I felt she didn't try particularly hard as she had the doppler near my belly button but at that stage baby was very low down. It did get me quite worried though but I had my own doppler at home and picked up a heartbeat with no probs. Try not to worry but I know its easier said than done. xxxxx

My midwife couldn't find mine either - found out later the placenta is sitting accross the front which made it more difficult . SHe found it a few weeks later though :)

It took my GP over 20 minutes to find the HB of my baby at my 28 week check, so I wouldn't worry if I was you!

I was warned today we may not hear it as im ony 15 weeks so try not to worry x

Don't worry, my miwife said she wouldn't try till the 16 week appointment , which I had at 17 weeks, and so I heard mine first time then - enjoy next weeks appointment X

thanks girls i will just look forward to next week except the blood taking lol

hope all goes well next week hun, i first heard baby at 17 weeks and even then it toke like 5 mins to find it xx

I first heard my beans HB at 17 weeks and that also took a good 5-10 minutes to find :D I wouldn't worry yourself over it hun, MWs normally refuse to do it before week 16 at least so as not to panic mum, mine warned me not to get my hopes up too much even at 17 weeks, LOL.

xxx

i had it at 16 weeks where midwife couldnt find anything as baba was swimming around and didnt want to play. try not to worry hun xx

i didnt hear mine til 18 weeks, try not to worry too much xxx

hello,

just to reassure you...

in my first pregnant at 18 weeks my gp couldnt find heartbeat... i was gutted and bought a doppler and found it myself. Then with this pregnany at 14+4 i had an appointment with my consultant who couldnt find the heartbeat... i was thinking well surely if you cant find it there has to be a problem!!?? but he reassured me all was fine its just too early...

saw one of his registras last week at 15+6 who found it within minutes....

i guess it just depends on the position of the baby, the size etc.

I am sure all will be fine

xxxxxxxx

its looking like alot of people haven't been able to find the heartbeat and i think i wouldn't have panicked if it wasn't for losing the twin with no symptoms, I think i just panicked thinking history was repeating itself as I have lost twins before lost the 1st one at 7 weeks then had no bleeding or anything went back 2 weeks later just to check that the other twin was fine and it had disappeared my body had absorbed it. i know deep down that everything is fine and from experience i think thats the best clue. thanks all again

I've got a doppler at home, sometimes I find the hb really quick & other times not at all! The baby is sometimes really really low down and other times I have to be at a certain angle in a particular point to pick it up. I used to find it easier to find when I was 10weeks pregnant as I knew it was very low down, now it can be anywhere below my tummy button! Please don't worry! ;)
