Midwife at 3:00!

Got my booking in appointment this afternoon at 3!

Second time lucky....I was meant to have it last thursday but I was bleeding so she didnt do it incase it was bad news.

Feeling quite nervous actually! Does she give you all the Emma's Diary and stuff at your first appointment?

Oooh exciting - you'll come away with a folder of stuff.

You'll get loads of leaflets, your medical notes book thingy, Emma's Diary etc.

Takes about 30 mins - don't forget your wee wee sample too!

All i got at my booking in appointment was my notes. I didn't get any bounty pack or anything until my dating scan? But i suppose different areas do it different ways!

i got the bounty pack, but not emmas diary whats that??

Been down to boots to picck up a mum to be pack but they've just been refurbished and dont have them in

Emma's Diary is like a pregnancy book which follows a woman through her pregnancy, its also got bits of info on medical stuff I think

Just got back! It was all paperwork, she did my blood pressure and stuff.

She also took 3 tubes of blood and I HATE getting blood taken

She said I might not get a 12 week scan cos I had one the other day

But all in all it went well, dont go back for 10 weeks now though. I see the consultant on 18th december cos I had forceps delivery last time but he'll probably just see me once or twice.

 

She won't see you till 18 weeks Are you not having the downs blood tests etc then that have to be done at 15 weeks?
You should get a 12 weeks scan hun, well, my hospital say you have to have one then as it's only nearer that gestation can they be certain on due dates? Maybe it's just my hospital being fussy though??

I got a leaflet about the downs blood test and said I would have it done.

I've only just realised that I wont see her when it needs to be done though

She said I might get a 12 week scan but I might not. How will I know, will I get a letter or something? Im confused now, I thought you saw a midwife every 4 weeks

Everyone seems to have different experiences. If I want the downs blood test I have to make the appointment to see the MW at 15 weeks but i've been told that all other appointments should automatically be posted - but I'll believe that when I see it!!

I got Emma's diary when I saw the GP (although they gave me the spring/summer issue which I thought was a bit off! ).

Get bounty pack at next scan.

Looks like it is different everywhere, i have had my booking in with MW and first scan but haven't got a bounty pack or emms diary, bloods being done next weeks and hospital appoint on 24th (14 wks) then back to MW between 18/20 weeks.

Glad everything went well Kirsty Bit strange about the long wait for your next meeting.

I met mine this week and did all the paperwork, she gave me the Bounty pack and Emmas Diary and I got a big NHS book all about pregnancy and birth options and breastfeeding etc.
She also filled out a form to send to the local hospital for my 13wk scan.

And my midwife is coming to my house next week to do bloods etc and go through a few things with me.

And we talked and now I'm booked for midwife led care and a birthing centre instead of the normal labour ward already

Then I assume it's once a month until nearer the time.

I would definately have a chat with her if I was you before your next appointment about the Down's blood test.

I asked for that big purple NHS pregnancy book but she said its only for first time mums, I felt so stupid lol!

I'll give her a ring in a few weeks to find out about the downs test/12 week scan etc
