Membrane sweep

Booked in for one Monday with my midwife...

Anyone had one?? does it hurt?

Did it do any good?? I am not holding out any hope just incase

Hiya, I had one, it was ok. It started contractions for me but was still 3 days before he was born!

I had two hun, first one didnt work as my cervix wasnt favourable at the time and then the second one three days before i was induced she managed to do it but it was really uncomfortable and then on friday when i was induced i was 3cm dilated lol, i didnt even know but i was in labour when i got there and then they induced me to speed it up,

Hi Zoe

I had one with my first baby and Had it on a Thursday. She said my cervix wasnt very favourable but she did it anyway. Said nothing would happen for at least a week and my waters broke on Saturday. It must have done something.

Didnt really hurt, was just a bit uncomfortable.

Hi zoe,i had a membrane sweep on the monday at lunchtime. It didn't hurt it was just a bit uncomfortable. By 4pm i was having contractions every 10 mins but they kept stop starting and i din't have her till the early hours of thursday .Go for a long brisk walk afterwards,wish you all the best hun xx

i had one with bethany, the doctor had fingers like bananas i nearly cried it hurt that much, went into labour 2 days later

The sweep is fine hun! It's uncomfortable but not really painful. If they ask if they want you to have your cervix pulled forward say no, my god that's an eye waterer!

I found it very painfull but I was in labour at the time, it shouldnt hurt you.

VERY uncomfortable and a quite sore at times....I went into labour the next day!

i had three the third one done the trick that night i had a show and following day went into labour. its uncomfortable but .........

 

I had one when I was term+8 and it didn't work. It was very uncomfortable, embarrassing and part #1 of me losing my dignity. I'm not sure what the chances are of it happening though hun but my cervix was very high and closed so I hope this isn't the case for you

I had one when i was 7 days overdue and it was slightly uncomfortable but not really painful,the midwife told me once she had done it that she thought i would go into labour within 48 hours i went home then that night iwent into labour so it must of done the trick for me.

Hi hun,

I had a one on the Thurs at 4pm, yes it did hurt a little I was one week overdue at that point and I was already dilating...I was booked in to be induced the following Fri but I went into labour at 2.45am Fri, I gave birth to Ashlea Ann at 8.42am.....I'm glad I had one otherwise I think I'd have had to be induced again...which is something I wanted to avoid....It will be fine....Let us know if it gets things happening....fingers crossed for you...take care

I found it uncomfortable and it did hurt a bit but it doesn't take long. I had one at 40+12 when I went in to hospital to be induced aswell as having a pessary and I had Jake about 28 hours later.

Very uncomfortable and embarrasing!! hubby was shocked at how far the midwife had to put her fingers in! ( however I was in labour and had my waters ruptured at the same time.

Didnt have it after all the worry..midwife checked tummy first and babies head isnt engaged at all so they think my placenta is still lying low (something they thought at 20 weeks but never rescanned me )

Got to be rescanned on wednesday, if all is well, they will sweep me then and sort out date for induction..if it is low lying they will book me in for c section beofre Monday.

when i was in labour but not dilating they did one and it really hurt but that was probably cause i was in early labour anyway
