Hiya ladies so I went up to my nans today and she's really upset me with what she has said, so I was breast feeding harry and he was getting tired so he was being grumpy, she went on to say about how she was when she was breast feeding my aunty and how I wasn't producing enough milk and he was starving. Now bearing in mind my auntie is 45 yrs old and things back then were different and we didn't know half the stuff we know today, I tried to explain about how I was feeding on demand and how quick breast milk is digested but she was having non of it and kept saying how I should put him on a bottle, it's really annoyed me because she has no right to tell me how to feed MY son!!

I know it's upsetting watching a baby cry and be distressed but she's just being too opinionated on how I should be raising my son. I'm going to continue
BF no matter what she says, he may be her great grandson but he's my child and I'll raise him how I please!

Right I feel better now I've had a rant x

good and you are right as well BF is the best thing for your baby. ignore her and believe in yourself x x x

Can empathise. Lots of people would always ask me when I was stopping BFing, everyone wants a piece of the baby and if you BF they can't get to them so easily, I swear that's what it is, coz it's inconvenient for them lol

Stand your ground hun xxxx

Thanks ladies it just annoys me because she should be supporting me not criticising me!

I can't believe how many BF ladies get asked when they're going to stop or try to be pursuaded to move to FF. Unbelievable. You should be very proud of yourself. I wish I was BF. Sounds like you're doing an amazing job. x

Haha funny I was going to post a similar thread.

So far according to my grandma Chloe is overfed, made to nap too often, not wrapped up enough...the list goes on. Last time she gave birth was in 1964 but she insists she knows more than the HVs etc lol.

I've found the best way to deal with it is to ignore her by changing the subject (if that makes sense) rather than justify every choice I make. Maybe it would work for you too.

Good for you sticking to your guns too, you are absolutely doing what's best :)

Aaaarghhh well done honey! How rude - people just don't need to give their opinions sometimes esp. when they're old fashioned

You stick to your guns and do what you see best or you and your LO... Xx

It just seems like nothing I do is good enough for her anymore, she seems to favour my SIL and her daughter who is 4 months old but then my SIL agreed with me about bf and that soon shut nan up! I love the fact that I'm able to feed my son my son myself and I shouldn't be looked down on because I have chosen to do something!
