Hmmmm Ive just worked out (after posing oran is sleeping through an mentioning it in there) that oran has had 1 5ml dose of medised and and ashton Parsons powder every night for about 12 nights, the one night off he woke up tons, which I presumed was because he didnt have the medicine his teeth were killing, I hope its not cause he ''needs'' the medicine to sleep?

What do you think, should I stop giving it him? He is teething badly, the bottom molars but there taking ages to break the skin but he has to huge (pea sized) lumps in his gums where there all swolled, he is grumpy alot in the day and very short tempered which isnt like him he is usually so smileyu and happy and in the day he has a temp but as it doesnt bother him to much I usually just leave it, I only give a dose of calpol if it gets quite high and he is really off colour but its rare but as he still has the temp at bed time I give him a dose as im worried of him burning up when im not their but with it being 12 days should I stop or is it ok to continue as long as he has the temp.

i know it says ''go to dr if symptoms persist'' after something like 5 days but I know why he has a temp so no point going to Drs is there.

i would take him to the docs, just to get advice on how to handle this. It does seem like a long time to be having to give the medised and im not against giving it but it would be worth checking with the gp that there isnt something else that you could be giving him.

Poor wee soul

 yeah maybe I should, I wish I wasnt at work on Weds as I would just nip in to the HV walk in clinic, its so hard to get an appointment at my DRs and so far when ever I have been with im that have just said ''he is fine, just give him calpol''

Ask a pharmacist. They are trained in these things too and so would be able to tell you either whether it is safe to keep giving the medicine or if you should go to your doctor.

ETA: That way you can go to any pharmacy and get advice without an appointment.

Ill go on the the on by work tomorrow cheers hun

In the meantime can you try other pain relief for teething (bonjela/dentinox etc) that would give him some pain relief rather than going to nothing straight away?

Yes ill just keep on giving him the teething powder - the medicine was mainly for his temp

spoke to the Pharmacist and she said its fine to give him 5ml every night before bed for as long as he has a temp. she said because it paraceetamol based and the 5 day warning is to cover themselves as if something bad was wrong and someone didnt take the kid to the Dr etc they would get in a lot of trouble. She said as long as im not giving him 5ml every 4 hours or something and I know he only has a temp for the teething then its fine.

I put him to bed with no medicine or teething powder last night and while he took a while to settle he slept through but woke at 6 and wouldnt go back off  :shakehead:

poor kids teething is so cruel, we went through a stage of giving luke ibuprofen a lot before bed as he wouldn't settle but then he would sleep all night, the effects of the medications wear off between 4 and 6 hours after taking them so i would say that he will be fine and should sleep through

it was your hard work with the controlled crying that made him sleep through and not the medicine x
