As you already know, Thomas has been suffering constipation since the age of 3 months old and nothing is working. tried lactulose and even with double dose nothing, tried suppositories which helped at first but not anymore. i tried to give him plenty of watery fruits and veg as he does not drink any fluids apart form milk and we are struggling to get 17 ounces a day. Anyway, my mum told me to put him on the potty ( which i thought was daft at this young age) and it works!!!! He pushes like hell but There is no nappy to be in the way and he is in upright position so it helps :) We have only started this 3 days ago so it is still early days but for mums whose babies are like Thomas it might be worth a try!!!!! You have to wait though for a little while and the smell is not particularly nice

ahhhhh thats good, bless him. i used to get constipation so bad while preggers its sooo not nice (still got piles from it)

poor lil thing hope the potty thing is the answer to your probs x

Hope it works hun

Sophie got like that when she was born lasted for a couple of months it was horrible but she is well over it now.

Hope it works hun

This might sound crazy but Alex makes a big effort when he poo's so when he was about 3 months my mum would see the signs and hold him above his nappy to do it 'freestyle???

She said she done this with me and brother as babies as it gets babies used to not having to poo n their nappies. Apparently it got to the stage when we woke in the morning we would go straight onto our po and do the business. I hate when mums do everything so perfect, dont you! lol

So hopefully you will be making your life easier in the future chick!

Hiya

Glad you found something that is working.

I found that when I was giving my son weetabix for his brekkie he went from having 1/2 poos a day to having 5/6 poos a day and they were explosive too!!! lol I changed his brekkie to porridge pretty smartish I can tell you! lol

Thought this may help as there was a thread on here a while back and several others found it had the same effect on their little ones.

Well, it is still working having Thomas on the potty. I do not train him at all. when i see he is pushing, i put him on the potty and he then does what he has to do  We even had 3 other poos in nappy today without pushing or anything :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

But the smell has gone so bad........................ :puke: :puke: :puke: It smells like cows poo lol

I stopped giving him medication so hopefully he will carry on like this. Now a tip given by the H/V is to make the food consistant enough so he has something to push out. He uses to push a lot without success but once the poo out it was not dry or anything. So adding chese or meat helps to make the poo heavier.

I love being a mum lol all i do is talk poo
