Hi guys,
Does anyone know whether you actually need proper maternity pads or do heavy duty regular sanitary pads do the same job? looked at maternity pads in Mothercare and they looked enormous  quite expensive in comparison too

Also anyone know where to get cheap protective sheet things in case waters break in bed?
thanks xx

i bought my maternity pads from asda... the little angels brand. im not sure how good they will be but they were cheap enough for me to stock up on loads incase they arent that good.

xx

I've been told that normal sani pads won't be sufficient. I've got a couple of packs from Tesco, quite reasonably priced and i think i noticed the protective sheets in there too. xx

ive bought some night time ones to use x x it depends on how heavy you are afterwards, with my daughter i didnt bleed much at all just like a period x i found it to be more watery than bloody sorry TMI

thanks guys - looks like a trip to the supermarket at some point then! trying to get my hospital bag organised but everything just seems such an effort at the moment....:nap:

I had my birthing class at the weekend and the midwife said when your waters break or if they are leaking to use Mat pads becuase the sanitry towels are too absorbant so they can't measure how much has come out.

Ive got the asda little angels ones and also a packet of Boots own brand.
I also bought a pack of kiddies potty training mattress protectors to put on my bed in case my waters break when Im in bed :)

I've been to wilkinsons and bout two packets of 10. £1.50 per pack! :) xx

I used Boots own brand ones, mostly because of the stitches - they are much better than the normal ones.

Used Always after stitches have healed

Get maternity ones as you bleed a hell of a lot especially in first 24 hours after birth. xx

Ive got super heavy flow night time towels and going to get a cheap pack of maternity pads and see how i get on x

Hi ladies, hope you dont mind me popping back in. Just to let you know i used Asda's and wilkinsons own maternity pads and they were both brilliant, dont go out buying mothercare ones they are so expensive and i used about 10-12 packs(but did have a post partum haemorrhage) x x

It was a few weeks ago now but I got mine from mothercare and actually got a bargain, it was their own brand and it was a pack of 48 for £5! xx

think i got tesco and boots own maternity pads when i had jake, they were good but i went through loads x

I got some Tescos ones they weren't expensive at all. Also picked up some of the bed protector sheets to and they were cheap too.

I got tescos own but in the end I only needed 1 pack before bleeding was light enough to wear normal sanitary towels. Found the tescos ones quiet good & comfy enough for the size of them lol

I used the mat pads for first few days as after u may well want the extra padding !!! If u have no probs or stitches and flow slows down normal pads r ok after bout 4 days xxx

With my first they said maternity ones are better because they are more padded for your sore bits after :) iykwim x
