mastitis help needed

When Albert was 2 weeks old we went to ff. The gp gave me something to help dry up my milk, which I stopped taking over the weekend. Sunday my left boob got sore, monday it was worse, yesterday I was at the gp with full blown mastitis in that breast. I have antibiotics but how do I help clear this up without making that breast think it needs to make more milk? Hand expressing doesn't get me anywhere, never has done. Any help or advice would be great. Thank you

How long have you stopped bf? My milk took 2 days to dry without medication (didn't even realise they were still allowed to prescribe anything to help!), I would go back to your doctor and ask for advice or call your health visitor, I can't imagine how horrible mastitis is, I hope it goes soon Hun! xxx
