For mothers day last year I got my mum a mother and daughter spa package - very luxurious (and a bit of a treat for me :) ). Before we got to go on it my dad got really ill with his dementia and mum had all sorts of related health problems from being his carer. Oh, and I obviously fell preggers :)

Things are kind of on an even keel again now (its taken this long) and we only have until Feb to take the package. Is it safe for me to have treatments at this stage? The package includes a Skin Specific Facial and a Deep Tissue Back Massage, these are the two I'm unsure about. It also includes a manicure but I'm going to get them to change it to a pedicure so my feet look beautiful for labour! :) I can't get down there at the moment :D
I know I can't use the sauna either but will have a little potter around in the pool.

What do you think girls?

I think you should ring the spa and ask. A lot of places do massages especially designed for pregnant women. Maybe you could swap your treatment for one of those instead?

 Mmm, I did think I'd do that, otherwise it'll be a bit of a shock to the spa when I waddle through the doors :D . I just wondered whether back massages in general were recommended for preggers ladies

I don't think they are unless they're specifically designed as maternity massages. Don't quote me on that though.

I had loads of treatments in my last trimester. Most spas have special treatments for pregnant ladies. Deep tissue back massage doesn't sound like one of them. Usually they have you lying on your side when they massage your back and I don't think they do it too 'deep'. They may have you on your back for a while to do your chest etc too (but only if that's comfortable for you).

Some spas don't do massage at 1st or 3rd tri. I guess, they don't want to risk starting the labour :rotfl: Hope this spa will do them though as it is an absolutle bliss to have a massage towards the end of your pregnancy.

It is also important that they use oils suitable for pregnant ladies as not all the oils are appropriate (the same applies to if you are breastfeeding, they still use oils for pregnant ladies for me as I am BF:ing).

Facials should be ok, but again it's good to check with the spa as there are certain products they can't use.

Enjoy x

You lucky thing lol.

It was easier then as I didn't need to think about with who to leave LO :) so I took full advantage of the situation, plus being on maternity leave helped.

I remember a few months ago when I had a loooooovely relaxing massage whilst my friend was looking after her baby and mine. After that it was her turn to go and I was left with two screaming babies for an hour (well they took turns) so that looooovely relaxing feeling was gone straight away

Ooh, now I'm excited I just phoned them and they do a nuturing massage for preggers ladies where I lay on bean bags and its for an hour and a half - yum :D

They were really nice and have let me change a few bits in the package including swapping to a pedicure - I'm going to be a yummy mummy (just for the day :) )

:cheer: :cheer:

Let us know how your got along. It's fab to be able to hug a bean bag. (I just had a shiatsu massage today as wanted to try to something new. It ended up being one of these things that they just press pressure points, so it was a bit painful :? )Enjoy xxx

Oh I'm really thinking of asking hubby for a spa type package for my 30th seeing how I can't drink or celebrate how I'd intended! Have fun and think of the rest of us won't you?
