Iv just cooked some carrots and brocoli for tea and Iv mashed some with a fork for Ella, she's 6 and a half months old now, but its quite lumpy (obviously it will never be smooth like when blended)
Is she ok now to have food like this just mashed and not blended? or could she choke? and if she can have it, should I add anything to it like a bit of milk or water?
thanks in advance, Im not very good with this food business lol

I give Seren veg mashed up with a fork. I found she was fine with it, I gave her a little bit at a time, and put it near the front of her mouth so she could chomp it.

Tonight Ella had cauli and broc cheese (followed Beanies recipe for cheese sauce, foolproof!). I just roughly chop the bits so they aren't too big for her to manage and she's fine.

She might find it a bit strange at first and maybe even cough/gag but she'll get used to it :D

How did it go?

oooh I'm like the Gordon Ramsey of the forum, but without the wrinkly face and the potty mouth, hmm well without the face.

here is my cheese sauce in the style of Mr Ramsey

1 pint Milk, warmed not f'ing hot
4oz Cheddar or Cheshire Cheese, grated you f'ing idiot, I'm not your mate
1½oz Plain f'ing Flour
1½oz Butter

melt butter in a f'ing saucepan, add flour and stir for a couple of mins whilst shouting at some f'ing idiot who has asked a stupid f'ing question. Add milk and again stir til smooth and thick, then f'ing add grated cheese. If it goes wrong f'ing do it again you muppet. The entire time you are doing this look mean and moody and swear copious amounts. :D

mmm yum i think ill try that and have some myself!
she had some of the mashed veg, she didnt have much but what she did have she swallowed it fine :) I was quite surprised no gagging or anything. so from now on Ella will have what ever were having (well what she's allowed of it) mashed up!
I was feeling a bit guilty becuase I got into the habit of giving her just jars when we were on holiday becuase it was easier, she was really constipated not sure if it was from the jars when she was used to fresh veg, trying to get back into the habit of giving her fresh food.

Hi

All Kiara will eat is mashed up foods or chinks of foods
I think she is trying to grow up too fast lol .
My nurse said its fine for them to eat it like that and they wont eat it if they cant.
