Well I went to the doctors yesterday as I was having real trouble breathing as everytime I breathed in it was agony on the one side. Anyway doctor listened to me breath etc and said it could be pluracy or a blood clot on the lung :?

So I had to race over to the AAU unit in the hospital where various blood tests were taken and the blood results came back neg apart from teh blood clot one which could have been down to the fact I was pregnant. They wanted to keep me in for observations over night but then the consultant said I could go home.

Yet when I woke up the pain was really bad again, still in the one side. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this during pregnancy?

The midwife said it is unlikely to be baby because the pain is too high up. I am abit worried :(

Poor Fran! What are you like...what with your crutches as well!!!

I had the same thing when i was 28 weeks... my OH took me to A&E, where they took blood for a blood gas analysis as my BP was really high but my O2 staturation was VERY low.

When that result came back, they gave me a shot of Fragmin into my hip and then kept me in overnight so they so could do obs on me and baby.

They did a VQ scan the next morning to make sure there were no other clots, and then let me home that afternoon... WHen I asked them what may have caused it, they put it down to the fact that I was pregnant, and told me it was quite common... I've not had anything since tho...

If you're still worried or in pain, I'd go back to the Doc, just to be on the safe side...

Oh lass, sorry to hear of this, I've never experienced this but if it continues I would go straight back to the docs xx

Well it's twenty to 1 in the morning, and I am in absoute agony. i think I am going to be going back to the hospital tomorrow  It seems to be getting worse. I had to get up coz I couldn't breath properly lead down. The doctor on AAU told me to go straight back in if pain persists or worsens, but its an hours drive and I can't ring anyone to take me, and dont fancy driving myself in this state.

To make matters worse my home phone keeps saying every number I dial has not been recgnized and my mobiles broken :x So I can't ring anyone :( I've rang BT they say said its hould be on by 5 o clock tomorrow afternoon- great....

God I have just had enough, I am so p*ssed off, and the pain is really bad

Cant you ring out on your home phone at all????? Fran I think you should try get holda someone.

I've had a cup of tea and a cry :( The pain is slightly better now, it only hurts when I breathe in. I think they will give me a chest scan tomorrow as they wanted to last time and keep me in overnight, but I just wanted to go home and the pain had eased up to practically nothing. Grrrrr I hate hospitals :(

This pregnancy has been absolutely bloody awful :( I am not a happy bunny!

Well if it does get any worse dont leave it xx Gotta say you havnt had an easy time of it by the sounds of it..... :( Take it easy.

Thanks hun

Haven't heard of anything like that before, however I've read in a pregnancy magazine that from the third trimester pregnant women can get out of breath easily because of the baby pushing upwards more and more as the pregnancy advances if it makes sense, getting in the way of the lungs :? not sure if that's what you're having

No coz the doctor said my breathing on the one side is very contained and it should never cause that much pain to just breathe in as he noticed I was having. And the midwife said it was not baby related as I had the midwife an hour before I went to my GP.

I think I'll be off to hospital today but I really dont want to

God, sorry you're having such a hard time of it Fran

It's not fun to go to hospital, I cried myself to sleep when a&e kept me overnight with the kidney infection, but my mom has had pluracy and it made her really really ill and she had to stay in hospital a lot longer than one night.

Best get it sorted out chick cos you don't want to be in the situation where it is so bad that you are stuck in hospital for a lot longer. Try and get an early morning appointment so they can check you out during the day and hopefully you'd be able to leave by night time and not have to stay over?

Drop me a text if there's ever anything I can do to help, anytime day/night - my phones work

Not as bad as that fran! but had the odd moment where it hurt to breathe nd had to sit down for a while, was more noticable when i tryed to take deep breaths.
Hasnt done it though since immy was born.

Well they called me back in for further scans yesterday- and they found nothing, so they are putting it down to strain on the lung wall or something  I didn't want to go back but the GP made me :(

Anyway the 2 scans I had pose a risk to the baby so I feel really bad now  They assure me the risk of the scans is far less than the risk of me having a blood clot (they told me thats what they thought it COULD be) and it was in everyones best interests, but I feel so bad now, what if its hurt him- all that radiation :( AND all for nothing (not that I wanted a blood clot lol!)

aww glad your ok
if they thought it was too risky to the baby then surely they wouldnt have done it?

I don't know :( I was nearly crying in the hospital thinking my poor little Derek (no I'm not really calling him that!) lol!!! I dont even know what it's supposed to do to unborn babies

They did say that because I was so far gone and baby was pretty much fully formed that it is highly unlikely of it affecting him. They injected radiation stuff into my blood stream though so surely baby is getting that through my blood? They did only give me a half dose though. I just feel so guilty!!!

dont feel guilty!!

derek will be fine (don't worry... i was calling mine Onka or Ethel    )

it was better to be checked and make sure you're both Ok , rather than just leaving it wasnt it?

Aww Frangelle, sorry to hear you've been made to feel guilty. you shouldn't though: as you know, a blood clot in the lungs is very dangerous and if mum's at risk, then baby is too. You did what you had to, for BOTH of you.

Are they going to be monitoring baby with ultrasound/heart monitor for a little while to make sure that he wasn't affected by your procedures, or are they happy he's going to be okay?

Now that you're in the clear, the medical staff should be concentrating on your baby, if they think there's a risk. If they seem fine about it (not worried about LO), then be reassured that baby must be okay.

I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes more smoothly!

No I have not been monitored since but I am ringing the midwife tomorrow to get her to see me and put my mind at rest. He is happily kicking away which is a relief but I just feel like sh*t :( I'm gonna be worried for the next 8 weeks now!!!
