Hi all
For the past couple of days iv had a very sore lower back. It kind of feels like a strain but in my bones, does that make any sense?
Later in the day it goes further down into my pelvis and thighs.
I can only sit for a wee while then i have to lie flat. I phoned the docs but theres no appointments till next week and its not so bad that I want to sit in a&e for hours.
Iv taken paracetamol a couple fo hours ago, anything else I can do to ease it?

Hmmm

Have you looked into SPD? Or maybe baby is lying in an awkward postion.

I'd be wary of lying flat too much as it encourages baby to lie in possibly awkward postions (I discovered in reading about baby lying back to back and now spend time each day on all fours, rocking backwards and forwards as it encourages LO to move position and takes pressure off my back).

Try lying on your side and using pillows, between your legs and maybe behind you to stop you from rolling back.

If not then go see your MW or GP and see what they say about SPD as its possible you have this and can get some form of treatment. It can be very painful and make you pretty immobile.

Sorry to hear you are having back pain. I have been having similar troubles and the midwife told me that unfortunately it is common in pregnancy and is caused by hormones (what a surprise).

Try having a long soak in the bath to relax the muscles and it may be a good time to get a massage from the other half!!! I find having a shower and letting the water power onto my back makes my back feel better.

My back seems to feel better after very gentle exercise too.

It drives you nuts, doesnt it!!!
