Hi ladies,

Brief background: ttc for over 18 months. Diagnosed with mild/moderate endo, otherwise all tests normal. Had 1st appointment with private ivf clinic and they did an ovarian reserve test. They were really pleased with number of follicles (7 on one side, 8 on other) but the Anti Mullerian Hormone (AMH) level was 12. They weren't pleased with this & said that we shouldn't wait before proceeding with iui or ivf. I'm only 31 :-( Just wondered if anyone had any experience of low ovarian reserve & which route you took?

They also want me to have a hysteroscopy as she is concerned that I may have scarring in my uterus, which is preventing a pregnancy, after an infection I had 13 years ago!! This would cost over two grand though! Plus the ivf cost, pre ivf investigations/blood tests etc, we'd be spending a fortune we just don't have :-(

Sorry to moan, but never thought it would be this difficult!

xxx

Hey, i had a low AMH level of 5.9 and I had IUI. It just meant an increase in hormones. I was lucky enough for it to work first time! Good Luck!

That's really encouraging Laura T, thanks for your reply. Was the low amh your only issue?

No I also didnt ovulate at all after having a mc and my body shut down. That was the issue as there was no chance of me getting pregnant at all. I only discovered the low AMH as a result of tests for IUI. As long as you have a reserve then you are fine. It only takes one egg!

I had a really low AMH 1.48 however that does not mean your egg quality is bad, these consultants don't seem to give much encouragement with these results however there has been loads of ladies fall pregnant with a low AMH, after all it does only take 1 egg.

I went for IVF in Athens, due to personal choice and the expense of it. It worked 1st time so I was very lucky, but please don't take the AMH tests too seriously
