Long story but me and my husband have been TTC for nearly 3 years now. We were referred to fertility specialist last year but we actually got pregnant after our initial apt. Unfortunately we miscarried at 9 weeks. We were told if nothing happened in the following 6 months then to be referred back and that is where we now. My results have all been okay but my husbands semen analysis has shown low morphology. Last year he had two results of 2% and then 3% we have just repeated tests for our appointment next week and it has come back as 1%. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this? I've read it's the shape of them therefore making it difficult to conceive and also a risk of miscarriage or birth defects.
Sorry for the long post and I hope I've posted in right place. Thank you xx

Hi, my hubby has had low morph ranging from 2-3% and an up and down count, his problem was mostly the head. I had him on a barrage of vitamins, cut down coffee etc and the most recent SA showed he had gone up to 4% which is classed as in the normal range. What's his actual count like? Is he on any vits? Xx

Is most recent one was his count was okay and everything else was within range apart from the morphology which was 1%. He takes the well man vitamins every day Anne he doesn't drink any coffee. We are seeing fertility specialist Thursday see what she says

Hi there

2 years ago my OH was getting 0% and 1% readings for morphology which is why we were referred for ICSI. Over a year ago he started taking a suite of vitamins (including wellman and Healthspan Conception for Men - he tends to vary them day by day) and has gone since then from 2% to 4% (a year ago) to 8% a couple of weeks ago. All the other numbers have gone up massively too (although they were always fine anyway). In the last 6 months he has also become exceptionally fit too, which may have helped.

I think the important trace ingredients to get are maca and L-arginine.

Good luck xx

Apparently a low morphology is really common, the average % normal forms is about 4%-90% apparently, I've looked for the figures but can't find them now. It means the sperm have the wrong sized or shaped head or middle piece, the wrong length tail, or even 2 heads or tails! I was quite shocked when I saw the pictures.
Wellman Conception vitamins helped us a bit, but its still a bit worrying thinking that it might be contributing to me not getting pregnant. Although if the count is high, then we have plenty of good ones hopefully. I would have thought that the misshapen ones wouldn't get to the egg or wouldn't have the right DNA to divide properly though?
