low HCG AND scan not good...any hopeful stories?

I should be 5 weeks and 2-3 days today, having o'd on 7-8 July. I had pinky discharge this morning and due to previous miscarriage, I took myself off to the clinic to get blood done, and also ended up with a vaginal scan. The doc couldn't see a sac, but did see something (swelling on the endometrium or something) she said was consistent with the low level of HCG I have and nothing to worry about and get blood done again in a couple of days.

BUT - her analysis assumes that I ovulated later than I did. Which is soooo highly unlikely unless OH has incredible sperm... last BD was on 4 July due to travelling for work, so I was pretty amazed we even got a BFP at all!

My HCG is 656.6 - this is low for right now, I know that...but I also know that I've heard a few cases of pregnancies working out. What I don't know is whether the scan I had should make me worry or if I should disregard it. With my first pregnancy I had a scan around this time and saw the sac AND the baby.

Hoping for some kind of miraculous stories to hang on to before I get the next bloods done in 2 days!

To be honest it's not really about the number, it's whether it's doubling in the 48 hour period. I wouldn't worry too much about the scan until you know what your levels are at your next blood test.

Thanks, yeah, I guess you're right...I do keep reading that I shouldn't read too much into the levels...just a little terrified that they're decreasing rather than increasing, but I guess nothing's going to tell me until the next bloods come back!

I think that at such an early stage is hard to see anything. I stressed myself like crazy at a 5 week scan and went back at 6 and 2 and everything was grand. Try not to worry - hard I know! But hold out until bloods come back x

Aww thanks, yes it's definitely hard but I do appreciate the support...somehow it makes it more bearable. I'm preparing for the worst though as I had more spotting lsat night, but it was more browny discharge and could easily have been a result of the vaginal scan, as it wasn't the most comfortable I've ever had!

so I thought I'd post an update - got the blood results back, and though it wasn't as positive as I was hoping, they have still gone up so I'm determined to be positive. From 656 two days ago to 971 today, that's a 50% increase. I read somewhere yesterday that the doubling should happen over 2-3 days and that after 2 days, it should at least be a 60% increase, so I'm still low, but hoping it's good enough!
Now I'm going to research baby aspirin and keep positive for a few days.

If its increasing its a good thing.

I had a internal scan at 5weeks & 4 days & they could only see the sac & yolk sac but you may find if you go back in a few weeks there is something there xx
