Over the past few weeks i have found my knickers have often got quite wet - just like a clear, odourless, water. I also, once, noticed a big wet patch on my dressing gown where i was sitting but i stupidly didn't bother reporting it to my midwife. Then on Wednesday last week i hadn't felt baby move at all for 2 days, had lost a bit more water (well what i think is water anyway) and had been feeling tightenings in my tummy. Anyway, i had to go to hospital - had a scan done and an internal where they looked at my cervix. I was told that everything looked ok but that i need to just monitor any further losses and to bring the wet pad with me to the hospital if it happens again.

Well, this morning i was stood in the kitchen and just felt a gush of liquid come out of me. Again it was clear and odourless. I didn't have a pad on and therfore have nothing to show to the hospital. I've told my OH to get me some of them thick, cheap, pads when he finishes work tonight.

I am feeling quite worried but as i was only in the hospital a week ago and they found nothing wrong i am not wanting to go running back there with no "evidence".

I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar thing or knows much about this?

Could it be wee?!?! It's odourless though and you would think that wee would have a bit of a smell, and a colour?!

MrsMc i know that you have been to the hospital with a similar thing recently, have you just been told to monitor any further loss? As far as i know, they didn't check me for infection or anything.

Sorry about the long post! xxx

It could be wee, which might be clear and practically odor-less if you're drinking lots of water, or the "normal" pregnancy discharge, which there can be loads of. Nevertheless, if I were you I would definitely go back to hospital to get it checked out, even without "evidence", rather than wait for another day, just to be on the safe side. That's what they are there for, after all!

Another thought: have you kept the underpants you were wearing when it happened? You could take those with you to show to them.

I'd go babes! You can't be too careful! That's exactly what the hospital is there for! Really hope your ok!

I didn't have any knickers on unfortunately, just my dressing gown as i had only just woke up.

Think i might phone the midwife and see what she says, i'm worried that shes just going to tell me to go back to the hospital though. I know it sounds silly but i can't face going on my own and there's nobody that could come with me. Obviously my hubby would come home from work if it was an emergency but i am worried that i would be wasting everyones time. I was in there 5hrs last week and was told that everything looks fine.

It's so hard to know what to do for the best!!!! Maybe i should just hold out for today and put a pad on when he gets home so that i can properly monitor it...

I don't want to frighten you, but I would really go straight away. Ask your hubby to come with you - I'm sure he won't see it as a waste of his time to support you and be there for you and the baby when you need him, even if it does turn out that everything is perfectly ok (which hopefully it will do)! And you're not wasting the time of the hospital staff either, they are being paid to make sure you're ok, and no doubt they are also much happier to check you out and send you home with an all clear, than to have you put yourself at risk for fear of annoying them. If this did turn out to be something more serious you would never forgive yourself for having delayed seeking help for longer than necessary. I really hope I'm not freaking you out, that is not at all what I have in mind and I really hope that everything is going to be absolutely fine. But please go now and make sure it is!

Phone her babe, that is what she is there for. You are obviously very worried, as would any of us be, I know if you can "catch"some they swab it there and then to tell if it's amniotic fluid, had similar but not as bad with my first, but it turned out to be wee, how glamourous! Don't worry, just give her a ring. Thinking of you. :hugs:

I will phone the midwife now...

I keep have little gushes of 'discharge' and sometimes it is just like water - I thought mine had gone yesterday but I had no more gushes until later on. I have to wear a pad throughout the day as my underwear and even trousers get wet! It's awful but I have been told it's normal pregnancy discharge. It is a worry though!

I had a growth scan last week which showed I had above average amniotic fluid! I was so surprised!

The midwife didn't seem overly concerned! She said that the amount of fluid i described sounded more like a trickle than a gush and that as i was only checked a week ago it is more than likely discharge or urine. She suggested that i put any type of pad on for now so that if it happens again they have something to swab and can distinguish what it is. So i have put a normal pantyliner on and if i get anymore liquid at all i am going to call my husband and go straight to the assessment unit.
I feel better now that the midwife knows.

Thanks Laura. Can i ask what type of pad you wear? The midwife told me to get like supermarket own brand ones as they are the least absorbant and would be easier to swab

Hun u need to go to assessment unit cis if it is ur waters then u and baby r at risk of infection! Dont worry that u were there a week ago it's what they r therefore! Have u felt babs today?
I was told that if I have a feeling of watery fluid coming out to go straight back mine was too thick to be my waters apparently!
Def get checked out babe always better to be safe!

Glad she doesnt seem that fussed!!! Relieved now!

I was actually quite suprised how unconcerned she seemed! I thought that she was going to tell me to go straight to hospital! I do still feel a bit nervous about it all but like she said to me, when they did a scan the amount of amniotic fluid was normal and there was no signs of rupturing when they checked my cervix.
I am going to be backwards and forwards to the loo all day now checking! As soon as it happens again i'm going straight down there!

Don't worry at all about 'wasting' anyone's time, you won't be. Getting some reassurance at least will be a waste of no one's time. After all worrying is no good for your baba. Hopefully it's just discharge hun but I would defo give midwife a call, it's better to be safe than sorry xx

lol oops I hadn't noticed you'd already called her too. Glad everything seems okay :) xx

Did they do a test to check that it was definitely not amniotic fluid, is that why they did swabs? I don't think they did swabs on me you know, they just seemed to be looking up there...
