Does anyone do this? What are your opinions? Just curious as my friends baby (he's 7 months old) will nap anywhere, floor, sofa, cot, chair etc I don't ever judge people for putting LO's on their sofa, its their choice, its just something I've never done because I was worried it wasn't really safe enough. This morning I didn't have much of a choice though, it was OH's turn for a lie-in and the cots in our bedroom so I didn't wanna wake him when I put Angel down for a nap so I put her on the sofa + put 2 small cushions to stop her rolling and a big squashy blanket on the floor just in case she fell; pointless as I stayed with her the whole time !!

I don't do this and probably wouldn't as she is to young at the moment and our settee is leather so I can't imagine it being very comfortable for her lol. I can't see anything wrong with doing it though. From your pic your LO seems perfectly safe x

I do! We also have a beanbag which she sleeps on! We never leave her alone like you say so can't see a problem :) she looks well comfy! :) xx

Id say just stay with her and it's fine. :) She looks well comfy!

Ha my LO only sleeps on the sofa if I feed him and inch him down while attached but then I have to stay with him or if I move he'll roll inwards.

Agree with the others tho!

Yeah I don't think its something I'll make a habit of as like most people when she's napping that my chance to do housework etc so I carry on putting her in her cot, don't think the sofa will hurt once in a while :) xx

The thing is if your visiting someone that could be to your advantage iykwim?

That looks safe to me, especially if you were with her!! My Lo fell off our sofa when he was 2.5mths, I'd got up and propped him up whilst I knelt in front of the sofa for 2 seconds to push my coffee table back so I would then have space to lie him on the floor for tummy time, literally as soon as id propped him and turned my back I heard a meaty thud and he was face down on my floor behind my back, frightened the living daylight out of him and me, he was fine tho not hurt at all as our sofa is very low anyway and it was more the shock that made him cry but since then I've never had him on anything other than the floor unless I'm holding him!!!!

Yeah I see what you mean, usually we're out in the car so she'll fall asleep in there or just doze off on me most of the time lol

I don't put Sophie on our sofa because it's not deep enough to be able to but for now while she's not rolling over much in her sleep she goes in the middle of our bed on top of the duvet and ive never had any problems x

Oh bless him! Angel nearly had this happen around the same age, I plonked her on the sofa sort of sitting up on the side cushion and I literally turned only a little bit to my left for her dummy and I just saw her slump towards the floor but luckily I caught her before she hit, sat her up and she was smiling lol. My friends baby is 7 months and she leaves him on the sofa and put cushions round him (like I've done with Angel) and she leaves him to go and do her chores and he's fine I just don't know if I could do that myself. It surprised me she fell asleep on there at all tbh she usually only sleeps in her cot or on me bless her!! x

Mine is such a wriggle bum its like hes in perpetual motion lol always has at least one limb moving so I can't even leave him in a bumbo as he works himself out of it!!! If I lie him on the floor he's rolled into some contorted position on the other side if the room by the time I get back its a nightmare!!! we've even had to lower his mattress on his cot as we had it at new born height and we are convinced he'll be able to roll over the sides he's so active in his sleep!!!!

Bless her maybe she was really tired!! I'm glad you had something similar happen makes me feel much better lol I felt like such a terrible mum for ages after!!

God I sat and cried hun and she didn't even hit the floor so I know how you feel. Yeah she was pretty tired to be fair :p She wriggles loads too, I put her in the feet to foot position in her cot and when she wakes in the night she's wiggled to nearly the other end :O dunno how she manages it!! xx.

Lol that is exactly what N does, id love to secretly film him thru the night to see just how he manages to get in the positions he does!!!!!

B does sometimes. He falls asleep on me and if I want to get up I put him wear I've sat as its still warm. Works a treat. Just put cushions by him and don't leave him. He also does at my parents, which is handy. Xx

Grace did this when she was small, gave my arms a rest and she slept really well as the leather warmed up. She doesn't do it much now as I like to be able to get on with things and I don't want her rolling off

Chloe naps on our sofa as it's pretty much the only place she will nap if not in my arms. Our downstairs is open plan so I'm able to do housework and never let my eye off her at the same time. She always seems to wake up in such a good mood after a sofa nap :)

My LO took all his naps on the sofa until about 2 months ago. I never left him, and although it meant I couldnt do any housework it did mean I could catch up on here or with my recorded programmes!!

I have not done it yet at home but have at my parents. She looks very safe and as you were with her the whole time there was nothing to worry about. I will do it if I am going to be in the room with her but not of I want to get on around the house or leave the room for a extended period of time.
