Hello,
I'm 26 weeks + 2 days. For a while now i've been suffering with pain in my pelvic area. A friend of mine mentioned Pelvic Girdle Pain and upon reading it up on the trusty old site of Dr Google, i'm pretty sure that this is what i've been suffering with.
I have an appointment with my midwife on 1st May, they can't get me in any sooner.
I was wondering if anyone has tried maternity belts or anything else that could possibly help me get through the days and nights.
I'm not sleeping as the pain gets so much, i just tend to sit up and cry. If i end up falling asleep and roll onto my back, my partner has to roll me back over onto my side (he calls me a lost turtle) otherwise, i'm stuck and in pain.
I'm just getting so uncomfortable and as a plus size girl, i'm not sure what the right route would be to take.
I'm just looking for a bit of advice and i kind of want to know that i'm not the only person suffering with this.
Any help or advice will be very much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Nat.

Hi, I suffered with this terribly with my last child.
I was given a belt by physio but I found it too uncomfortable.
I found that having my inner thighs massaged (quite deeply) tended loosen things up, although it did hurt a lot!
Other than that, I slept with pillows between my legs which eased it too.

Thanks for replying.
I've been sitting on a bean bag alot this afternoon which has eased it a little bit. It's just so uncomfortable. I've been looking at buying a belt but there's so many, i got confused and a little bored of looking so i gave up.
I will talk to my midwife when i see her and ask what she recommends.

in my area i could ring up the maternity physio department directly to get an appointment, if you can do that or call your midwife to get a referral, the quicker you do it the quicker you can get seen, i wouldnt wait til 1st may

Ring your mw or gp now for a referral. I’d also recommend an osteopath or chiro with pgp as a speciality, I never found physio very helpful on the nhs. The belts Weren’t overly helpful for me as they were too restrictive so I couldn’t really wear.
In the meantime sleep on your side with a pillow in between your knees, don’t do any strenuous housework, keep your knees together when getting out of car etc, take stairs one at a time and don’t push yourself too far with anything physical. While still relatively early try and do some core strengthening pregnancy Pilates. Fx it doesn’t get too bad for you x
