Look what I found in the garden ....

I wish I had those in my garden! I've never seen one :)

My mum has loads of newts in her garden, me and the kids always find them.

Oh my good golly god in heaven!

Mid, I wouldn't have even hung about to take a picture!

I'm fine with all things creepy crawly, and love snakes, but if I'd seen one of them in my garden the sheer unknown would have had me running, sceaming, tears and snotters allllllll the wayyyyyy home!

Oh and good on Seed! I take it since your boob ain't in the picture that you could leave her this time?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Slow worm?!?!?1
Glad its not just me whos missed out on all the fun of these worms parading themselves as serpants !!!!! Still id definately be screaming snake if i saw one, even though i now know otherwise !

Oh reckons he saw a black squirrel in the garden the other day but i think its just because theyve been on the news recently, no picture so :S probably just a very muddy squirrel :P Pretty sure you can only get them in a certain place anyways . . . . . ?

I have never heard of a slow worm before!!

Can you get em anywhere or are they native to the Isle of Midna only??!

snap!...neevr seen or heard of them, and i spent my whole childhood in gardens/fields/woods.

They're endangered, as are pretty much all our native snakes and lizards :(

We have a lot more than you think :D
But they tend to only be found in conservation areas now or places that boarder on 'the sticks' so not a lot of humans interferring.
Lack of natural habitation and people thinking they're all adders and killing them (which is also illegal lol) mean they've been gradually getting wiped out.

 looks like a snake to me

aww your baby is so cute, making me broody :)

I never realized they were that rare we used to get looooads in my parents garden and at one of my friends house we would see one at least once every time I went there are they anything to do with really clay like soil?. I love them they are so cute!! I like snakes too but a baby moth would have me screaming and running!

Newts are so cute! I would love to see one of them!!

Looks like a slow worm to me! My cat used to catch them and they'd be wriggling either side of his mouth like a moustache!

We have native lizards???

It's been a while but I think the ones I attended a presontation about were 'sand lizards'. They'd nearly been wiped out but captive breeding programs (breeding some of them in captivity but then releasing the eggs/young into the wild - which doesn't harm them at all as lizards do not raise their own young and most would eat them as long as they are small enough to fit in their mouths...true of the majority of reptiles 8) ..they naturally hatch with the wild instincts they need) have tried to stabalise the numbers. The release sites where kept strictly private and confidential though so that no body knew and could go and disturb them! :(

We also have slow worms (actually lizards as has been pointed out), grass snakes and adders.

Not sure what else...it's been a long time since I was in the know
