Thought would try and get my birth story down while I have a min. Sorry it's long and quite detailed don't want to forget anything :)

Well Riley made his (very speedy ) arrival into the world on wednesday 14th August at 8.50am weighing in at 8lb 7oz

I was planning on a home birth, at my mums house. (Me and the girls had been staying there until baby arrived) pretty good job really as didn't really expect it to be quite so sudden when it did all kick off properly.

Going back a little bit to Monday..Was out and about and had a few braxtons that felt like they meant business, and had urge to get home. When got home I had a show, but then nothing !! Everything stopped.

Thought something might be happening, but still being well over a week before due date (by my dates the 23rd August, and both my others had been right on time) I didn't feel hopeful, felt like was just waiting for something to happens all day Monday.
Tuesday decided to stop stressing and waiting for things to happen and just booked loads of things to do, going for dinner on Wednesday, hair dressers Thursday, cinema Friday etc etc ...

So cue early hours Wednesday morning, woke up to a few contractions, but they were all over the place, nothing regular and about 20 mins apart. Decided to get up as couldn't sleep had the odd contraction, some hurt some were uncomfortable but nothing regular, and from what I had heard about 3rd babies thought could be like this for days.

About 7am I rang my OH (who was 70 miles away!) to say don't think he should go into work today as he works in London and would be a nightmare trying to get back down to us if it did all kick off laterDidn't feel like anything was imminent ... Just upping to amber alert!

8am I wanted to have a bath, Funnily enough to see if everything would stop and could just getting with the day, didn't feel ready to have the baby yet!*

From here it all goes a bit quick .....

8.15 got out the bath as was just uncomfortable, as soon as I got out I had 2 contractions really close together, decided to call midwife And get them to come see me, luckily they didn't ask any questions as they already knew I went quite quick my my dd2 and said someone would call me.
Still felt a bit silly for calling but least I could see someone

8.22 midwife rang to say she was on way, my dad was getting my girls ready to go to a friends house, as had decided would be better for them to be out and i could just get on with a day of being in labour if necessary.

8.30 was in the front room, said goodbye to girls, as soon as door shut all went mad, was contracting every min or so, just one after another.
Rang midwife at 8.32 and said she needed to get here now, luckily she had just pulled up outside . My phone then rang and my OH was a bit shocked to say the least, I just remember saying 'im so sorry baby's coming, can't stop it'
Had to get off the phone as contractions were on top of each other and feeling the need to bare down. Midwife asked if she could just examine me quick.
Haha I was thinking I had got myself in a flap and she would check and nothing would be happening and it would all stop

I laid on the sofa in front room as she gave a quick check, as soon as she went to examine me my waters burst, she said I was fully dilated. The marvellous midwife had managed to get the gas and air together too ;)
With my others as soon as my waters go they were born pretty quick after
I almost instantly wanted to push. *I heard the midwife on the phone to second midwife saying 'going to need you here quite quick' lol
I rolled off the sofa on to my hands and knees on to the lovely poundland shower curtain brought for the occasion :)
I felt his head coming down, i got in a flap that he was massive. He felt a lot bigger than the girls already.
It felt like forever but I think at most it was a couple of mins (can't really complain!!!)But slowly his head was born, felt him spin round and with one more push he was out!

I was a bit shell shocked and just stayed on my hands and knees, after a few seconds realised no one had passed me the baby. Looked over and he was on the floor being given rescue breaths as he haddnt attempted to breath on his own.
Felt my self starting to panic but tried to keep calm, they just kept saying 'it's because it was so quick, he's a *bit shocked. But he soon took his first breaths and had a cry.

He was perfect!

Looked at the clock it was 8.50! Just under 20 mins after midwife arrived. Second midwife arrived 1 min before he was born.

It took me longer to deliver the placenta!

My phone rang again and was my OH, had to tell him that he had missed the birth of his son, but it was almost funny! What else can you do? . Luckily he was on his way and only half hr away :)

The midwives were great, within 10 mins you wouldn't have known anything had happened in that room, was tidy and cleaned, we all just sat around drinking tea. Kept looking at the baby and then the clock thinking... How is this even possible.

So there you go, My speedy but fantastic home birth.
