I just wanted to say that I read one of your posts yesterday and something you said really stuck out to me, and you have done it again today! You really have some great advice so I thought I would share if other people didn't see those threads...

The first thing was " You dont have to be upset coz LO is upset".... I never thought about it, but it is so true. I have been getting upset every time K is and it's been really hard. I need to learn that babies just cry a lot I think!

Need to find the other post then will add it :)

This is the other one:

"do the essentials, wash/eat, ect coz if you cant at least do them, you'll end up with PND because you are not carrying out essential things that need to be done every day regardless. So please..put LO down & do something else, put on head fones if need be, keep LO not too far away so u can see her & go make a sandwich, read a magazine & listen to tunes, trust me, you'll feel better after it. You are not just a mummy, you are yourself too, dont forget that."

I just thnk it's the best advice, so thank you!

I second that, you do give great advice LM!

Me 3, thanks hun, you've kept me going these last few days.

And also a big  I get the impression you speak from experience and I know that is very tough, especially if it has been for a long time. xxxxx

Brilliant advise! Having been there done that to the point of having a premi that had to be tube fed every 2 hrs for the first 2mths and now that things are a bit more normal but I then delt with the witching hour etc I came across something that could help. Check out the DVD by Dr Harvey Karp. Brilliant, you can get it on the toyambition website. There are books and swaddling blankets also by Dr Karp. In short he teaches you how to swaddle a baby quite tightly and hold them whilst giving the ever so slight jiggle and they stop crying, i'm not kidding, in 3-5 seconds. Its amazing! I have given the DVD to my friends and they are getting the exact same response and we can all now sleep. Baby sleeps for longer period of time so you can get more rest or catch up on stuff, or simply take time out. I cant express how good this guy is. Its NOT expensive to buy so check it out on line and share it with friends. Let me know how you go with it and more so if you feel more in control. Thats what it did for me.

This is the 5s thing I posted about a few weeks back. It definitely stops them crying instantly doesn't it!

I agree, I don't come in here as often but littlemiss does come up with some brill advice x

llmmaaoooo

Thanks ladies. I think I had such a hard time with my first LO, I moved home, had literally no family & no friends & no help & you kinda just learn the hard way.

I have to give my MIL credit for those things I said, I never got on with health visitors ect & when she came in (which was rarely) LO would be screaming blue murder & i'd be pacing the room crying myself...she'd go right - pull yourself together, go and get a shower, why do you think you need to walk about like that, its just LO crying. ect ect. It makes you think....hang on - what the hell am I doing. I have a bit of a trick I do with Kayden, I kinda sing to myself when he's crying, wish I did have headfones, cant find them.

my OH has serious issues with regards to crying, he cant listen to it & even goes up stairs & slams the door as if someone has insulted him...im like...its just a sound. I'm still trying to get thro to him

Keep strong everyone & remember....its only a sound! (thats what I say to OH)

xxxxxxxxxx

You should write a book, or become a hv or something! You'd be ace x

I've started playing music when I feel I'm getting stressed, a bit of Lionel Richie is great for calming you down

Well this is kinda what I do too...not lionel ritchie loool but I just put on VH1 classics & listen to all the 80s tunes, which remind me of a good time in my life, I turn it up & enjoy it & sometimes sing along, it really helps drown out the crying & cheers me up. Infact see the other day, I was holding LO & i was in a right huff coz he kept whinging. So I tured up vh1 & wham came on I I ended up singing to LO a bit & waving his hands about, he went from whinging to laughin at me it was great.

xxxxxx
