Hi, i have just joined this site as feel i need help!

I have been off the pill for over a year and nothing is happening. Its really getting me down as everyone else is getting pregnant just like that except me!

When i was younger i had chemotherapy and had a ovary removed-however, in 2008 i had some eggs frozen and from my one little ovary they managed to get 11 eggs (9 were freezable)-thats really good from one ovary!

Anyways, i came off the pill last april and have been tring ever since. In may my partner and I had some tests done-my hormone levels are fine (phew) and my partners sperm is okay, not great tho and has to get tested again.

I know, a year isnt actually that long but i am worrid about my past illness and maybe there is a problem with my eggs (there is no way of knowing that till i get pregnant or have embryos frozen which i will be doing in the summer). I guess, i need some re-assurance and advice-is there anything i could be doing to help my chances? Are there any other women on this site who have had chemotherapy and do you have any advice?

Im sorry if this is long winded...im just really down about the whole situation and finding life really hard.xx

Hi Hayley,

I'm sorry I don't have any advice but I just wanted to say that I read this and think you're really brave. Life can be soooo hard! Have you talked to your doctor about complications because of your previous illness?

Hope you get a BFP soon

Pinky x

I'm 30 weeks pregnant but it took me and my partner 4 years to get pregnant I almost gave up hope of it ever happening but it just shows that it can happen

Hi hun, sorry, I have no advice either but just wanted to lend some support. Hope things work out for you and at least now you have all the ladies on here to vent at when you need to...Good luck. xxxx

Thanks for the support-it does help!! I have spoken to my GP and my hospital docs, but there is just no way of knowing of how the chemotherapy has affected my ovary until embryos are created. My FSH levels are all normal-phew!
I am having such a bad pain in my ovary today and think i will be ovulating tomorrow-the pain is soo bad that i actually cant do anything and can even see my lower stomach throbbing! If the pain is still there tomorrow then i will be going to the docs.

Thanks again for the words of support.xx

I wish you the best of luck hun  It must have been hard for you :(

I couldnt read this thread without wishing you all the luck and best wishes in the world for a BFP

I just want to say after what i have read i want to wish you all the luck in the world getting your BFP (Big Fat Positive) :)

Many women who have had chemotherapy in the past can go on to have healthy pregnancies. If your hormones are normal then that is a very good sign! your remaining ovary will compensate for the missing one.
I wish you all the luck in the world. X x. X

Hi Hayley,

Was just wondering how you were feeling and if the pain had passed?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your kind words...it means alot and makes me feel better! I know many women who have had chemo go on to have babies-the only thing is that one of the chemo drugs i had nearly killed me and a side effect from that drug is infertility and even though i had a small amount it might not have caused infertility but because my reaction was so bad there is no way of knowing until i get preggars!

I did a ovulation test today and got a smiley face so i know i am ovulating which is always a good sign!

Wish me luck.xx

a positive ovulation test is a great sign that everything is working as it should be inside, wishing you lots of luck for a bfp x

Hi Hayley - A minute can feel like years when you are waiting....so youre entitled to feel upset that youve been trying for a year AND you have the added stress of the possible affects of the chemo hanging over you. Wishing you lots of love and luck xxx

Good lucky Hayley, never give up hope hun :hug:xxx
