We really want to give the baby oh's last name (I want it more than he wants it I think :D) but how hard is it to give lo his last name if we're not married yet?
And does he even get rights over the baby because we're not married or is it really up to me until we get married? He is the father and everything, but is not being married a real big issue with getting any rights over the kid? Legal rights I mean like being able to say that's my kid and will his name still appear on the birth certificate etc etc?

For him to be on the birth certificate, he'll have to go with you when you register the birth as you're not married, and as soon as he's on there he will automatically get parental responsibility and have the exact same rights as you! And name wise it won't be an issue, you can call baby whatever (well, within reason )

I always thought it was the norm to give baby Dad's last name. Aslong as he's on the birth certificate he'll have the same rights as you, he'll have to go with you to register though.

It's normal for the baby to have Dad's surname. He'll need to come and register the birth with you for this to happen.

I'm in this situation too... We're giving our baby oh's last name... Maybe one day ill be joining them with that name too! Lol feel a bit left out if I'm honest! Xx
