Hi, i have not been about for a while, but once again, i am asking for advice

After 2 sets of bloods they have decided my ovulation is reduced :eh:

Then after an HSG (which was awful :( ) they believe i have a blocked tube.

Now i have an appointment for a Laparoscopy and Hydrotubation and i am terrified .

I am grateful i am getting help, but no one understands how hard this is, and i know you lot will :).

Anyone got any experiences (good and bad i want to prepare)?

Hi there, sorry it sounds as though you are having a rough time of it all.
I had a laparoscopy about 6 years ago, it seems a daunting operation but nothing really to be worried about, I take it you are having a general?

They will insert a camera through the belly button and have a look around, will put some dye in your tubes and see if there are any signs of the tubes being blocked. You will feel grogy and a bit sore but your surgeon should be able to give you the results straight away and you get to go home the same day

At least you will get some answers with this hon, best of luck :clover:

Hi. The worst bit about all this will be the anesthetic wearing off as you will feel groggy ! I've been in for a hysteroscopy and a d+c and honestly the pain killers they give u will be awesome. The scariest bit about this is the unknown, I was so terrified but it was fine. Think of it as another thing to cross of your list to take you closer to your bfp!

Thank you for the replies :)

I have never had an operation before :oooo: so i guess thats daunting in itself. However, your right, its one step closer

Hey hun, I had a laparoscopy done in December and it wasnt nearly as bad as I had imagined. The worse part is going down to theatre as you are a bag of nerves, but after a sharp pinch when they put the cannula in your hand once they administer the general its lights out and you dont even know it until you are waking up back in your bed!!

Pain wise afterwards not to bad for me, didnt feel anything when I first woke up, had to check they had done it lol I was quite sore for the first couple of days but only when I was moving around, laying down it was ok. Just watch out for the shoulder pain, its trapped gas and can hurt more then the operation, I done some gentle walking around the house to try and get rid of mine was gone within a couple of days.

Took me about a week to feel better, so make sure you have plenty of time off work xxx

Vicky, thank you. I am terrified of being entirely under the control of someone else, even though they are trained medics, being asleep is a scary thought.

I have a week and a half off work after it (pre op suggested 2 weeks but i think i will be ok).

Did you get stitches? How many? They say there will be 2 entrance wounds.

Gosh, you can hear my fear in the way im typing now LOL.

I think its only natural to be scared hun, I have been knocked out 3 times now and I still get scared, but its over with so quickly.

I had an incision in my belly button and one along my bikini line, the stitches were dissolvable and were gone after 3 weeks. I kept my dressings on for 3 days and made sure I wore loose fitting trousers for the first week so they didnt irritate the stitches.

When you go make sure you take some sanitary towels as you will bleed afterwards.

Try not to worry hun, it will be fine xxx
