Well, the day has finally come.
Irregular contractions started in the morning.
13.30 part of my waters broke while carrying my 2 year old down the stairs after her nap.
14.20 arrived at hospital, 30 minute monitoring good
15.00 I stood up after monitoring and rest of waters gone in a gush. I was scanned to make sure baby in good position. Offered stretch and sweep to speed things up. While s&s she noticed baby's head is not engaged so risk of cord falling. They will keep me in and put me on hormones until active labour.
16.00 waiting for my room, cannula fitting... I will update later.
17.45 Cannula in and waiting for drip. Fyi, cannula not pleasant but bearable.
18.20 Drip started with smallest hormone dose. Contractions are about 20 apart at the moment and not crazy painful.
I will make the rest a little compact as so much has happened.
After 7pm the MW started cranking up the drip every 15 minutes which resulted in my contractions to come thick and fast and I was in a world of pain. I held out until 4cm, which took hours to get to, before I asked for pain relief. They offered me diamorphine which the MW swore by, this didn't do anything. I didn't want any g&a because I didn't want to feel dizzy.
After the diamorphine failing miserably I asked for an epi which I thought I would never have but the pain got the better of me. It turns out that I am one of the lucky ones who can take all the drugs offered without any affect. The pains just didn't go away.
At about 2am I was examined again and I was finally 9cm. I could no longer bare the contractions so I caved and asked for g&a which made me feel really weird, I was actually hearing rave music where there was none. Lol
I finally made it to 10cm and after pushing for a while I was examined and here comes the whopper, my boy decided to turn transverse.
They rushed me to theatre, gave me a spinal, Sweet relief and the doctor manually turned baby and performed a forceps delivery. I still can't feel my below but I suspect it will be hurt.
Anyway, I am happy to announce that Ryder Laszlo surname was born on 01/09/2015 at 4.30 weighing 9lb6oz. He is gorgeous and already on the boob as he should.
