Hi all,

Am new to 1st Tri as I just found out that I am pregnant yesterday and DH and I are absolutely delighted!

I have been having some shooting pains around my right ovary today as well as constant dull aches in my lower stomach. Am not complaining about it as I am hoping that's my body getting used to being pregnant, but just wanted to check that this is normal.

As this is my first pregnancy, I am v nervous about miscarriage and keep thinking that something might be wrong when I get these pains.

Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on your first pregnancy!! I am pregnant for the first time too, nearly at 9 weeks now but time seems to have crawled by since I found out on New Year's Eve that I was expecting! I too had lots of pains for the first few weeks. I had dull pains in my lower abdomen for a good few weeks which felt very much like period pains. I was convinced something was wrong but everyone I spoke to said it was just things stretching to make room for the baby. I also had some brown spotting for a few days from about 4 and a half weeks to 6 and a half weeks, with even a small amount of bright red blood at about the five week mark. Had an early scan at 6+5 weeks to reveal a healthy little blob with a tiny little heartbeat!! Such a relief, but every little twinge still scares me! You will probably start to feel really paranoid about everything over the next few weeks, and to be honest it won't make much of a difference what anyone says but it does kind of reassure you to know that the feelings you have are shared by so many other women who are in the same boat as you. Hope everything goes well for you and that you have a healthy and happy pregnancy! xx

:yay: Congratulations on your pregnancy! Sounds like growing stretchy pains, my midwife told me that some pains are normal as long as they are bearable and youre not doubled over in pain, and as long as there is no bleeding with it you're fine. Otherwise youre to ring GP/out of hours service.

Good luck!

Brilliant- thanks so much girls.

I need to call the doctor on Monday and book an appointment to have it confirmed and registered perhaps?

This really sets my mind at ease- I've not had any bad pains or spotting so will assume everything is fine.

It's all so exciting!

I'm still having those exact pains that you describe and if you look for a couple of my earlier posts you'll see that i asked exactly yhe same question!! You'll be fine hun xx

Yeah I agree with everyone else, it sounds like stretching - they do seem to ease but I still get them every now and again, and also when I sneeze I get a sharp pain but I figure everything is so loose down there at the moment it's no surprise! Congratulations on for your first pregnancy! This is my first too, exciting isn't it?!! xx

Sounds normal. and i als know that within your first few months around the time of a period (would have been period) you will have these pains. as long as they are not bad or bleeding too.

i am having cramps in my 2nd trimester atm but i think its all ok.

Congratulations xx

I've had cramps for weeks, and little shooting pains if I stretch or something, they were scary at first but now everytime it happens I get excited :) congrats!!
