Found out a few days ago we are expecting our 1st! 2 years of trying and fertility treatment, so I was shocked to see a positive result on the test! Was preparing myself for a negative again, as have been having lots of AF crampy pains. Our consultant wanted to do bloods and a scan just to make sure all was ok due to the pains I was having. Had an US and a T-V scan yesterday - showed all is ok so far :D Little black splodge with a tiny white blob :D He said bloods were good as well, hCG was 16,000 (not sure what that means ... ). He didn't give us a due date as he wants to do it from a date scan instead (I have PCO so my cycles are usually all over the place!), but I am reckoning we're about 4 weeks since conception (so is this counted as 4 weeks or 6 weeks??!)

So, journey has started - next scan in 2 weeks just to check all ok - feeling very nervous and not really at all excited at this stage ... Still having the AF pains, but have read on here that some people have these right from the start, so am feeling a bit better about that. I guess I just expect AF to start anytime

Nice to be here :cheer:

Huge Congratulations!!!!!!
I think its 6 weeks as it starts from your LMP, but you will get an accurate date at your 12 week scan.

Thanks for the congrats! I was really hoping the consultant would be able to give us an idea at the next scan on the 13th April - gutted if we have to wait until week 12!

Am also in Bucks - are you under Wycombe or Stoke Mandeville? We havent decided yet, but my consultant works out of London and Wycombe, so might stay under Wycombe ...

oh I'm not sure hun, I'm probably wrong. I didn't think you could see certain things until certain times  But tbh I'm still new to all this myself, so don't listen to me!!

I was under Stoke mandeville. I live in wendover which is 5 minutes down the road. Where abouts are you?
I have to say they were excellant. All the MW's and doctors were fantanstic. Also my little boy was taken ill with Bronchiolitis when he was 2 weeks old and spent a week in pediatrics there. All the staff were wondeful, I can't praise them enough!

Hi! Congratulations!!!!

I just found out this week as well. I also have crampy AF type pains - most of the time not too bad but occassionally are quite sore (just like AF). I will mention it to my doctor when I see her on Monday.

I didn't think you got a scan until 12 weeks though - do you know if you can request one early if getting pains?

I'm not too far away from Bucks - in Berkshire! :)

Good luck with your next scan and hope everything goes well

xx

Congrats.

Af pains are normal at the beginning of pregnancy as it is your uterus stretching etc.

It took us 4 years to concieve so I know it is such a shock to see that positive test

hi there and congrats to you too!!!!

I had 2 scans (US and TV) on Friday, and will have another on 13th April. We have a private consultant, so I rang him on Wed after i got the positive result, told him about the pains I was having and he arranged the scans. I'm not sure what the NHS does in the same situation? I am sure you can ask your GP. I guess the main thing our consultant wanted to check was that everything is where it should be at this stage :)

Glad to hear you were very pleased with SMH :) We are over the other side of Aylesbury, near Stone - so not far away at all! SMH is about 10 mins drive from us, whereas Wycombe is about 1/2 hr, but our consultant doesn't cover out as far as SMH, although they may be merging into one big maternity unit, so you never know :)

 Congratulations Sweetheart, It will all be real enough to you soon....very very common for AF pains for the first few months so try not to worry there....As for any other lady too who is overly anxious about pains, you can contact your local early pregnancy unit for reassurance, They are there for us mums who worry and will provide you with scans and advice up until 12 weeks, AFTER that you are in the hands of your Midwife and the routine scans pre-natal care...... Give them a call.

But you must also realize that there are many people like me who have lost babies and need the reassurance for medical reasons too, So PLEASE don't book yourself in if it's just to see a quicker scan...as most pregnancies go without any problems and most ladies do go on to have healthy babies....
So if you really need a sooner scan use the EPU but don't block the appointments as some mums life's depend on it. Thanks Lv Yvonne xx

Once again congratulations, try to relax and enjoy the ride....hormones etc :rotfl:  :cheer:

Hey, my story is so similar to yours. I have a few cysts in my ovaries and thought I had PCOS but I got pregnant naturally, without any medication whatsoever and so the doctor said that just because I had a few cysts didn't mean that I had the syndrome. So anyway, I found last week friday that I was pregnant, and today, I was told that I was about 8 to 9 weeks but because of my irregular cycles, only the date scan could confirm this. So I guess I'm looking forward to that day. In the mean time, I'm trying to 'enjoy' every second of it! My symptomes so far: tiredness, mood swings, very tender breasts, lots of cramps, a bit of constipation and a 'dizzy feeling' at times. I got the whole lot except for the morning sickness!
