Hi all Im High risk due to age and retained placenta in last birth so il get extra scans so the last at 12 week scan said which I don't mind extra scans are gd , my other concern is that I had to have loop or leep treatment about 6 yrs ago which was after my baby and I'm worried my cervix isn't gonna hold a pregnancy been googling of course and reading I may need a stitch and il need a scan to check length of my cervix around 16 weeks but I had totally forgotten about this so nobody knows about it but I have my consultant at end of the month so I'm gonna be firing him with all my concerns and I'm hoping they scan me to check my cervix length or I'm just gonna be worrying it won't hold out , I've no idea how much they took away or anything , has anyone had this done and what happens in pregnancy afterwards ? X

I'm afraid I've got no experience of this but if you're concerned I would ring your midwives and let them know so they can make any changes they might need to make to your care now if they need to rather than waiting, hope that helps.

I have the consultant at end of month il just wait till then cos I think it's more after 20 weeks that cervix could become weak xx

I don't have any experience of loop excision and its effects, but I had my cervix length checked by internal ultrasound. It is offered routinely in my NHS trust to determine your likelihood of pre-term labour. I could have it at the 12 or 20 week scan and I opted for 20 weeks. It's certainly easy enough for them to do - I'm sure the consultant will arrange it for you xx

I've had the loop treatment thing and although consultant said unlikely after one procedure it would make a difference to cervix, they'd need to start checking my cervix length at 16 weeks and I'm having them every 4 weeks even though length is totally fine so far. However I also know people that have Been told they won't be scanned extra because one procedure wouldn't make a difference. It probably depends on your consultant and policy where you are. Would just ring and ask them or if you appt this month is around 16 weeks I'm sure they'll just scan you there x

Thnx I was thinking maybe they will scan me there n then but I won't be 16 weeks yet , I would rather they scan me than spend the time worrying summet was gonna go wrong , I will ask about having it done at my 20 week scan I think :) x

My friend who just had her baby at 28 weeks had her stitch put in at 15 weeks! they did it due to her son 2 years ago being born at 26 weeks.

my cousins girl friend just had the procedure to remove pre-C cells from her cervix after an abnormal smear- and she has just got pregnant just 3 months after - so is very worried. I don't really speak to them to see what they are doing for her tho.
